Samurai / Ninja Costume Kit for Halloween - 15 Props Included
byalext1This is a collection of 15 props themed after ancient Japanese combat weapons. They are the perfect accessories for a Samurai or Ninja costume for Halloween. They can also be used as fun toys or display items. There are 11 different types of weapons included that are of cultural or historical significance, plus 4 additional variants.
No supports and no AMS are needed. The items print in several parts that can be easily assembled, with a few of them needing glue for a strong, lasting fit. Here are the props included:
Shurikens Contrary to popular belief, the shuriken (also known as the throwing star or ninja star) was not used to kill. Instead, they were used by samurai and ninjas to distract or misdirect their opponent. Historically, they were employed in combination with other weapons and were a vital part of a ninja's stealth tactics. There are 4 shuriken variants included.
Nunchucks Although they are often associated with martial arts, nunchucks actually originated as an agricultural tool used by farmers in feudal Japan. Over time, they were adapted for combat by Okinawan peasants and became popularized through their association with modern martial arts, especially in the hands of legendary martial artists.
Katana The katana is the iconic long sword of the samurai, renowned for its curved, single-edged blade and unmatched sharpness. Developed during Japan's feudal era, the katana was not only a weapon but also a symbol of the samurai's honor, discipline, and warrior spirit. Known for its precision in cutting, it was traditionally wielded with both hands and used in swift, decisive strikes. The katana's craftsmanship was revered, making it a revered artifact of Japanese culture and martial history, embodying the samurai’s code of bushido (the way of the warrior).
Kunai The kunai was a multi-functional tool used by Japanese ninjas, primarily for climbing and digging rather than as a weapon. However, it became a versatile weapon when sharpened, employed for close combat, or thrown to distract enemies, playing an integral role in the ninja’s arsenal.
There is also an alternate double sided kunai included (files prefixed with dual-kunai-).
Kusarigama The kusarigama is a traditional Japanese weapon that combines a sickle (kama) and a weighted chain (kusari). It was used by feudal-era warriors and ninjas to ensnare and disarm opponents from a distance before delivering a finishing blow with the sickle, requiring both skill and precision.
In this kit, there is a small weight included to be put on the end of the kusarigama chain. Although it is not historically accurate, you can also print out two kusarigamas and connect them to each other for a fun dual-wielding look.
Flail The flail was a weapon used in ancient Japan, often featuring a weighted end that could be swung with force to crush armor or disarm opponents. Although its design varied, it was especially effective in close combat and required great control due to its unpredictable swinging motion.
The flail in this kit uses the same handle as the nunchucks.
Jitte The jitte (also called jutte) was a metal truncheon used by samurai and feudal police officers in Japan. Its primary function was to block or catch an opponent's sword without causing lethal damage, making it an effective tool for disarming enemies. The jitte was especially useful for law enforcement, as it allowed for capturing criminals while avoiding bloodshed, emphasizing control rather than killing in combat.
Tanto The tanto is a small, straight-bladed dagger traditionally carried by samurai. It was primarily used for close combat and self-defense, but it also had ceremonial significance. The tanto's compact size made it ideal for quick, precise strikes, and it was often worn alongside a larger sword like the katana as part of a samurai’s personal armament.
Sai The sai is a traditional Okinawan weapon, originally used by peasants as a farming tool before being adapted for combat. With its distinctive prongs, the sai was ideal for blocking sword strikes and disarming enemies, often used by samurai and martial artists for defensive techniques.
Kusari-Fundo The kusari-fundo is a weighted chain weapon used by ninjas and samurai, consisting of two heavy metal weights connected by a chain. This versatile weapon was employed for entangling an opponent's limbs or weapon, striking from a distance, and disarming enemies. Its compact design made it easy to conceal and carry, often used for self-defense or as a surprise attack weapon in close-quarters combat.
Conclusion These 3D printable props capture the essence of these important historical weapons, making them perfect for completing your samurai or ninja Halloween costume and offering a tangible link to Japan's martial heritage.
Several of these props use the chain link part - you can choose how many links to print for each, and they can be easily fitted together.
