VHF Design QRO LNA Box
A sturdy waterproof box for the VHF Design (https://www.vhfdesign.com) range of QRO LNA devices with added supports to hold the LNA in place at the top of the box.
V1 - A simple box with internal supports for the VHF Design QRO LNA and 2 x 22mm holes in the base for cable entry. You could add your own glands or rubber bungs to seal the holes. Internal depth is slightly more than needed so I suggest adding a small piece of foam to the back of the LNA to prevent it moving around inside the enclosure. A length of 3mm rubber tube (I use Nitrile rubber O-ring cord from Amazon) can be cut and used as a lid gasket.
V2 - Slightly taller box to allow more room for coax connectors and removed some internal depth for a better fit. The cable entry holes have been moved towards the base of the enclosure to help with alignment and the internal support walls have been made slightly thinner. Added a secondary internal wall at the bottom of the enclosure so a 4mm thick neoprene gasket can be slid between to help create a water barrier for coax passthrough. A length of 2mm rubber tube (I use Nitrile rubber O-ring cord from Amazon) can be cut and used as a lid gasket.
V3 - Deeper case (internal depth 37mm instead of 32mm) to allow a little space around the preamp unit. The extra depth also allows for bigger coax entry holes (30mm vs 22mm). Secondary internal wall at the bottom of the enclosure so a 4mm thick neoprene gasket can be slid between to help create a water barrier for coax passthrough. A length of 2mm rubber tube (I use Nitrile rubber O-ring cord from Amazon) can be cut and used as a lid gasket.
V4 - Same as V2 but with the secondary wall at the bottom of the enclosure removed and the wall thickness along the bottom case increased to 7mm to accommodate a 22mm silicone blanking plug which should provide a very effective waterproof coax entry solution. I purchased mine from eBay.
