I’m super excited to share my latest 3D printable lighting design with you: The Bat Lamp, a cozy, characterful ambient light that’s just the right mix of cute and functional!

What is it? The Bat Lamp is a modular, 3D printable lamp that uses a standard puck LED light for a soft, glowing effect. Inspired by bat silhouettes and cozy nightlights, this design features a round dome "head" with subtly visible eyes and adorable ears peeking out from a smooth, curved body. It’s fun, modern, and gives off major nocturnal companion vibes.

Whether you place it on your desk, shelf, or bedside table, it’s sure to become a conversation starter, and a comforting presence.

Tips

• For best results, print the dome in white or transparent filament.
• The outer shell and ears look great in stone or matte textured filament for a cozy, natural aesthetic.
• Customize it with color-changing LEDs for a magical nighttime effect—like the purple glow in the last photo!
• Designed to house a 60mm diameter, 8mm thick LED puck.

Print Instructions

• Print the dome with the flat part at the back of the dome on the build plate. This allows you to print it without supports (printing domes is hard 😉). I've added a screenshot of the correct orientation to the images.
• 100% infill on the dome
• When printing the dome using translucent filament like PETG, use the following settings to get optimal transparency
  • Line width: 0.5mm (for all types)
  • Order of walls: Outer/inner
  • Wall loops: 1
  • Top shell layers: 0
  • Bottom shell layer: 0
  • 100% infill
  • Infill pattern: Aligned rectilinear
  • Infill wall overlap: 30
  • Infill direction: 0
  • Speed: 20mm/s
  • Slow down on overhangs: true
  • Gap infill speed: 20mm/s
• I recommend to print the inner light shield in a matte or black material that blocks all light.
