The Girl in Layers
The Girl in Layers is a 3D printable face artwork built from stacked shapes, shadows, and greyscale tones.
Up close, you see the individual pieces and the height changes between each layer. From a bit of distance, the portrait comes together and the face starts to read as one image. The eyes, hands, lips, and cheek shapes are separated into raised sections, giving the piece depth without needing paint.
Printing notes
This design works best with matte or muted filaments. The contrast between black, grey, off-white, and white does most of the visual work. Best viewed from a little distance so the layered shapes blend into the full portrait.
