1:144 Halberstadt D.III

The Halberstadt D.III and D.II premiered in June 1916 at a time when the Fokker Eindeckers were really showing their age and lack of performance, and they were followed by the Halberstadt D.V. Their good flying characteristics made them more popular than their contemporaries of the Fokker D.I-IV, and it was not until the rise of the twin-gun Albatros fighters that the the Halberstadts were withdrawn from the Western Front in mid 1917.
The Halberstadt D.III featured the 120hp Argus AS II engine, usually with an upright exhaust pipe. Ace Joseph Jacobs described the Halberstadt as "extraordinarily easy to fly, was very fast and stable, and possessed no vices." The most common criticism was the obscured forward vision. Fifty D.IIIs were built, roughly a quarter of all the Halberstadt D-fighters.
