Sikorsky Il'ya Mouromets S-23
This is a 1:144 scale model of a Russian Sikorsky Il'ya Mouromets S-23 multi-engine bomber, AKA a type "V", "Veh", or (in Cyrillic) "B". Specifically, this is #167 with the four RBZ-6 engines (which are Russian copies of the Benz Bz.III). Since many painters choose their own mounting system, no peg is included on the plane. Pegs can be purchased separately in the Accessories section of this catalog.
The prototype "Type V" flew in December 1914 and most were produced in 1915. About thirty-two of the "Type V" aircraft were delivered with -- due to shortages -- a wide variety of engines. It was a remarkable aircraft for its time, with a wingspan of nearly 30m and a fully-loaded weight of 5000kg.
