Big Glowing Moon // Glow Filament Decals
Revive the classic glowing solar system ceiling decals, upgraded to high definition with the power of 3D printing! These special relief models were created using some of the best imagery we have of our solar system, modified to be printed with glow-in-the-dark filament, and meticulously designed to maximize ease of printing without sacrificing detail.
This download includes several sizes of our beautiful moon! Each decal consists of a glowing part, and a backing, meant to be printed in black to enhance the contrast of the planets. The number in the file indicates the approxiate diameter of the finished decal.

Printing Guidelines
Print all parts solid at 0.12mm-0.16mm layer height. Designed for a 0.4mm hardened nozzle (to prevent glow filament from causing too much abbrasion).
For best results, glue the glow part into the black backing using a thick even coat of spray adhesive on the back of the glow part. This will fill the gaps between the parts for increased contrast.
Not all glow-in-the-dark filaments are created equal. Generally, filaments that glow GREEN have the brightest glow. To get an extra brilliant glow, use a 395mm UV flashlight* or other UV light to quickly charge the phosphors.
Use UHU Putty or similar to stick onto the wall or ceiling.

It looks really great! However, only half of the model is lying / has the first layer on the bed. The rest of the model is bridged on the perimeter wall. The bridging is too long, and messing the print. I.e. unfortunately, it is not possible to print for me, tried the 177 twice on K1C via Orca slicer. Can you please check / correct the model? Thank you!
Hey, I just checked the models and they all seem to be laying flat for me. Maybe you just need to redownload in case the file was corrupted mid download, since it's a large file. Is this visible in the slicer or just when printing?
Hi, there are a few peaks which goes 0,12mm below the main flat surface. It is visible in slicer when zoomed. During slicing there is message “object has floating regions...”. It is sliced as described above. Redownload didn’t helped. The peaks are visible in Fusion360 as well. I have added 0,125mm thick cylinder from the edge of the peaks to the main bottom surface and merged the models. That fixed the problem. After that I printed it without problems. The moon looks really nice. Thanks!
