Collapsing Master Sword Single Extruder Multi-Part Version

This version of the Master Sword has been split so that the parts can be printed separately in different colors on a single extruder printer and assembled with glue. Supports are not required for any of the parts. The wrap has some steep overhangs but it printed fine on my printer with no supports. I printed it at .2mm layer heights but if it gives you issues, you could try lowering that. Make sure you have a large brim so it doesn't get knocked off the bed. Make sure you insert the wrap before gluing on the pommel.

None of the parts require supports. For best results use a .4mm nozzle. You can print the blades all at once concentrically or one at a time in vase mode. Find detailed instructions on how to print collapsing swords on my website.

Assembled with Starbond Medium CA Glue (aff.)

Printed on the Mudex rep-rap IDEX printer.

Really love how this model turned out. Had some trouble with the base of the hilt screwing in correctly so ended up just cutting it and gluing it.

I had the same issue with the hilt screwing, is like the screw is not completed or it stops midways.

I'm working on updating to a quarter turn mechanism but until then here are some tips.

Too Tight • Reprint the pommel with the cap just below the bed surface in your slicer to allow it to rotate more. • Reprint the pommel scaled up slightly. • Tighten the pommel really tight, wait a day to allow the plastic to creep and loosen. Tight it again and repeat until it lines up. Too Loose • Use paper to gauge how much material is required, then print the cap and stop at that layer height to make a shim.

I'm loving your models so far although I'm having the same problems. Have you finished working on the turn mechanism yet?

No, but let me put it on the list. I'm on gift boxes right now, then I'm working on a mini-version of the Mastersword, then I'll get on it. Hopefully, first of the year.

Amazing print!

Is it possible to get a version of this handle that is the same as the print in place version? The missing blue "ramp" behind the yellow arrow piece is causing it to sit crooked in the table stand (unless I did something wrong).

Thanks!

I'm not understanding why its causing you a issue. Can you post on our discord or FB?

How did you get the wrap to come out so well? Did it require supports for you?

No supports but the overhang is pretty steep, you will need good cooling. If you are not having good results I would try slowing it down and printing at a lower layer height.
