Gift Box #19

This is my fourth season making these gift boxes. Each year I design five different versions. They all may look the same from the outside but each one has a different secret way of opening.

This box opens by pushing the correct side ribbon in. This pulls in detents on both sides of the box. The ribbon seam is hidden under the bow so its hard to tell which ribbon you need to push.

Printing Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports, designed for a .4mm nozzle. The bow and ribbons for the top are printed separately and are glued on. I used Starbond Medium CA(aff) glue. Be sure to only glue half of the ribbons and the bow that cover the slot as marked on the box top.

I printed all the parts in the orientation the stl’s are provided in. Use helper discs or a bring to them to keep the ribbons stable during printing. I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue.
