Armored Banana Case
No more squished bananas on the road!
This idea came from my wife, who needed a solution for the constant banana casualties during walks and activities with our little daughter. So… the Armored Banana Case was born.
Reality Check: NO - It will not fit every single banana on earth, Cases you can get online won't either. I'm not a banana expert but it should work with an average sized banana... You can scale the case up taking into account the magnet holes will increase in size as well, for example: 117% scale = Use 7mm magnets 133% scale = Use 8mm magnets (That's a big banana...)
Printing:
- Print Part A and Part B
- Both parts require supports.
- Avoid placing supports inside the magnet holes.
- Your first layer must be flawless. Print slowly and make sure all magnet holes are clean and fully formed.
I have included a file named Banana_Armored_Case_Tester.stl. Use it to test whether the magnets fit properly or if scaling adjustments are required before printing the full model.
Assembly:
- You will need 24 magnets (6mm x 2mm).
- It’s recommended to add a small amount of super glue inside each magnet insert to prevent them from popping out over time.
Tip: While silver/metal silk PLA looks great for the armored theme, keep in mind that the top of the case has noticeable layer lines. These will be much less visible when printed in matte PLA. For best results, consider enabling adaptive layer height to improve surface quality.
