Collapsing Jian

This model is restricted by licensing terms.

This is a collapsing Jian, which is a type of Chinese sword. It's a "Print in Place" design that is only 200mm tall when printed but extends to over 800mm long.

The sword was designed per a request I received from Naomi Wu the "SexyCyborg". She wanted a version of the collapsing sword from her culture. I thought it was a great idea and was happy to design her one.

Its designed to be printed with a ,4mm nozzle, with a line thickness of .43 so the blade will be two shells thick.

If you have any issues printing, check out my troubleshooting video. If you want to see the history of these swords check out this video. You can see the Jain in Naomi's video of the [Ender 5 Plus.

Detailed printing instructions can be found on my website

Printed on Prusa i3 MK3s using Fiberlogy Light Blue PLA and PlastSpaw Orange PLA. 0.2 Quality Profile with minor tweaks.
I was able to repair the blue one.
My son break the blade in quite a spectacular way. I cut off the bottom of the handle (pommel?) using japanese hand saw, reprint the missing blades. Sanded flush the handle parts, insert new blades and glued using CA glue. And it still works (but you can see the glue around the pommel)

Hi, Love your designs, I keep having issues with fusing no matter how I adjust the test prints so I was wondering if it at all possible to have a v2 of this that is similar to you katana in which you can print each part out then put it together? Oh happy to through some $ via patron or other if that is required :)
