120-Cell Polychora Planter

This Polychora Planter is derived from the four-dimensional 120-cell 4-polytope, or polychoron.

The 120-cell is one of six regular convex four-dimensional shapes. It is composed of 120 dodecahedral cells. 

4-polytopes cannot be seen in three-dimensional space due to their extra dimension, but there are several techniques that can be used to “project” 4-polytopes into three-dimensional space. This design uses the cell-centered stereographic projection method, chosen for the interesting aesthetic appearance.

While these three-dimensional shapes have curved faces and edges of various lengths, it is interesting to imagine that in four-dimensional space, the faces are flat, and the edges are straight and identical in length.

In this design, select cells have then been removed to allow better visualization of the inner cells, and the outer cells have been hollowed for uses as planters of containers of some kind.

Small self-watering plant starter pot

This is a simple design of a small plant starter pot that allows you to fill a cavity in the bottom with water to keep the soil moist for over a week ensuring that your new seeds or seedlings never go dry.

This is an original design and not remixed but I've see similar pots out there from which I took inspiration. Apologies for not giving specific credit.

This print consists of 2 parts: the pot and the insert. I've printed several of these and they've all been water-tight, but (of course) print and use at your own risk. Here are my print settings:

(PrusaSlicer 2.3)
Layer Height: .2 mm
First Layer: .2 mm
Vertical shells--perimeter shells: 2 minimum
Horizontal shells--solid layers: 5 top, 4 bottom
Ensure Vertical Shell Thickness (selected)
Infill: 15% (DOESN'T MATTER as the shell settings and thickness should ensure 100% infill regardless)
