The D7 takes the power of 3D Printing and puts it on the inside, while giving you a look that is as classic as it is cool. Designed by nerds and printed by Zellerfeld, this shoe is as functional as it is fashionable. Mesh design allows airflow into the shoe, circulating air and giving you durable design to handle anything that comes your way.

The only problem with the D7? What’s left behind — the footprint! The current print is backwards and gibberish, not the cool, sleek, and unique impact we’re looking for. So, the tread needs a design update and we need your help! Will you be the creator of the new D7 tread?

This contest is designed for you to make your mark!

There are two easy ways to enter: Customize and upload the free sample tread file or share a sample 2D visual design by adding photo or image to the sample treads as a “make” to show what your tread will look like.

If you’re uploading be sure to tag your design D7tread by May 17.

If you’re showing off your 2D design, add your image as a make to the sample tread page by May 17.

Everyone who enters will have a chance to win Zellerfeld gift certificates and custom printed D7s with your design.

Prizes

Contest participants are eligible for two great prizes:

1. A pair of D7 shoes chosen at random from all the entries. That means even if your design isn’t chosen, you still get a shot at something awesome. We want everyone to take a shot at this one!

2. Design contest winner chosen by David Tobin! You win a pair of your customized D7 shoes, a code to give out 5 pairs, and your design becomes the new version of the D7 offered by Zellerfeld!

Two easy ways to enter: Upload a customized tread or an image of your tread design

How to enter with a customized tread:

1. Sign in to or create your Thangs account.
2. Opt-in to contests in your profile settings so we can contact you about prizes.
3. Download the free D7 tread sample tread from David Tobin’s Thangs profile.
4. Customize your tread design, test print, take photos, and have fun! Want to design the left tread? Right tread? Both? Up to you, you choose!
5. Upload your model to Thangs with the tag D7tread by 11:59 eastern time on May 17 on Thangs. The tag is very important — that’s how we know you model is part of the contest.

Pro tip: Add a description to your model, as well as photos of any 3D printed prototypes you create and the footprint they leave behind — this will help showcase the originality of design.

How to enter with an 2D image file

1. Sign in to or create your Thangs account.
2. Opt-in to contests in your profile settings so we can contact you about prizes.
3. Design what your sample tread will look like and show us the impression it will leave behind.
4. Save your design as a flat image (such as a jpg or png) and add it as a make to the D7 sample tread model page.
