At Thangs, 3D creators are at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to promote creativity, support designers, and help our community discover amazing 3D content. This week, we rolled out an updated, detailed, and more robust content policy in order to ensure that as we grow, Thangs remains a welcoming, inspiring, and trustworthy place for creators and 3D enthusiasts of all backgrounds to share and explore amazing content.

At Thangs, our focus is on creating a safe, respectful community that celebrates and promotes quality 3D models and prints. Our content policy is designed to promote those values and celebrate the work that our designers are creating.

Why create a content policy?

In order to be creative, take risks, and grow their business we know that designers need to feel safe, supported, and have clear expectations of what they can share on Thangs. We wanted to clarify the type of content, community, and interactions we want to encourage and promote on Thangs. While our terms and conditions lay out the legal framework for what is and is not permitted on our platform, we think it’s important to spell out the values that drive not only our policies, but our business.

What are the basics of our content policy?

The goal of our content policy is to keep Thangs safe, fair, and fun. It is built around two pillars: respectful community and quality content.

Creating a safe and respectful community

• Respect intellectual property — Only share work you’ve created, have explicit permission to share, or that qualifies as fair use.
• No spam or malicious content — Spam, malware, phishing attempts, and scams will be removed.
• Foster a positive environment — Content that promotes violence, harasses others, or contains misleading information is prohibited.
• Keep it all-ages appropriate — All content must be safe for work and suitable for users of all ages.
• Account integrity — Content created on your account is yours and cannot be transferred to other users or accounts.

Overall, to support respectful interactions between all of our community members we ask all to follow these guidelines:

• Follow the golden rule: Treat others as you would want to be treated, including Thangs designers, members, customers, and employees.
• No harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
• Constructive criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not.
• Respect cultural and religious sensitivities and differences.

Building community trust by promoting quality models

At Thangs we want to uplift and celebrate the talented designers on our platform and the high-quality work that they create. These standards help ensure that consumers have a positive experience on the Thangs platform and understand what they are purchasing.

• Monetized models must be printable — If you’re selling a design, ensure it prints successfully.
• Use authentic imagery — Your preview photo should accurately represent your design. Real photos of printed models are strongly preferred.
• Provide complete information — Include a clear title, detailed description, appropriate category, and accurate tags with every model.

While we carefully monitor our platform for spam and prohibited content, we also want to empower our community to help keep Thangs a great place to create and discover 3D printable designs. We’ve built a more robust reporting function that can enable us to more accurately review and remove content that falls outside what’s permissible under our content policy.

Users can report content for the following reasons:

• Unprintable content
• Copyright infringement
• Prohibited content, including hate symbols, extremist imagery, weapons or items designed to cause harm, or drug paraphernalia
• NSFW content, including explicit or suggestive sexual imagery or acts
• Misleading model, image, description, or categorization
• Plagiarism
• Spam

Once a model is reported, the Thangs team will review and take appropriate action. Designers and community members who consistently violate the content policy may have their listings removed, account flagged, or be temporarily or permanently banned from the Thangs platform. If a model is flagged for any reason we will contact the designer and let them know the reason so that they will have a chance to appeal.

Here’s how our appeal process works:

• Users may appeal content removal or account actions within 30 days.
• Submit appeals to support@thangs.com with your account details and explanation.
• Appeals are reviewed within 5–7 business days.
• All decisions after appeal are final.
