Collapsing Buster Sword Replaceable Blade Version

This collapsing buster sword has threaded rivets which allows you to print the blades separately and assemble them after printing. The outer four rivets thread into the last blade segment trapping it in the guard.

The handle glues onto the guard. To increase the strength of the handle and the connection between it and the guard, a steel rod 6mm in diameter by 254mm(10") lg. can be used. I would suggest printing the handle with a lot of walls, and the guard with allot of top/bottom layers and infill.

The blades will print three walls thick with a .4mm nozzle. I printed mine with .25 layer heights. They are thicker than my standard blade walls for more strength. The entire sword uses roughly 1-1/4kg of filament total.

There are three ways to print the first blade depending on your printers vertical print height. If you have over 335mm in Z height you can print it in one piece. If not, there are two other options. There is a version where the tip is split into two, it will be glued together after printing. There is also a shorten version which is 248mm tall and retracts fully into the other blades. If you are having a hard time removing the rivets, I added some with slots.

Printed on the Prusa XL(aff.)

Ok, updated. Uncle Jessy got it to fit on a smaller printer. It may take a little tweaking though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dre43Q_8dPk

That grey filament in the picture look glittery. What filament is it?

Hi i'm trying to print this and i get good prints but the pieces aren't fitting together well, the smaller piece will only come out about an inch before getting stuck. For example I printed blade 5 and 4 and four would barely fit then when i forced it though it actually had to bend in on itself to go any further. Any advice?

That is strange, I'm not sure why. What printer and type of filament are you using, could it be over extruding, or have a large layer seam, or elephants foot.

this is a cool model a really cool one but the blades are too tall so will it have a problem if i just shrink them a little bit? only height nothing else

If you scale it nonuniformity it should work but I have not tired it yet.
