Turn boring magnet strips into a fun and useful decoration with these wavy cases! Hang keys by the door, knives in the kitchen, tools in the workshop, or any other ferromagnetic things in convenient places.

This download includes variations for 20 and 30cm magnetic bars in two different styles. Designed to be a perfect fit for Biltema magnet bars, but for everyone outside of Sweden you can easily fill the case with other magnets. (I am also happy to adapt the design for other sizes. Just leave a request in the comments!)

Specifications

  • 20cm version fits magnets up to 203mm long x 26mm wide x 13.8mm tall
  • 30cm version fits magnets up to 303mm long x 26mm wide x 13.8mm tall

For most use cases, you can use cheaper ceramic magnets rather than neodymium. For examples these rectangular blocks on Amazon would fit quite well (4 for the 20cm version or 6 for the 30cm version). Use E6000 or similar adhesive to glue the magnets into place.

I glued the magnet bars to the back of the case since they are a perfect fit, but for adapting to different magnets, you may choose to glue them to the front for the strongest magnetism. In that case, you will also want to glue the front and back parts together so you don't just pull the magnets off the wall.

Back covers are included with and without screw holes for versatile mounting to different surfaces. Make sure to use a strong and suitable double-sided acrylic tape/VHB tape for your use case if choosing to mount without screws! You can also drill holes into the print for more control over mounting points (eg. through the screw holes on certain magnet strips themselves).

Printing

Print solid using your default print settings in whichever material. PLA works well, but I prefer TPU for the front cover for extra strength and grippiness.

Photographed models were printed on the Qidi Plus4 (Also on Amazon). TPU front cover printed using BambuLab 95A HF TPU filament. Various PLA filaments and FormFutura rPET Clear for the back cases. *

The magnetic keychains can be found here.
