!!!There is a new version I created, hopefully more comfortable!!!
This is still work in progress, I hope everything is dialed in, this is a remix of jakob029's as I wasn't happy with how it attaches to the headband.
Should work with Siberia 800, Siberia 840, and Siberia H.
New! Elastic Headband mod use the pause at hight feature in cura to add a Buckle or Metal Rectangle mid-print! Everything should be oriented correctly when you import the model in the slicer.
List of improvements,
- Retention of the range of motion
- Solid and strong connection to headband
- Cable management improvements
- Support for elastic straps
This Design uses a 4mm E-clip to secure the hinge, and I used M2x6mm self tapping screws from the same assortment box of screws I used for Jakob's version (his version uses the M1.5x5mm) so everything cost me about $27 bucks, Cheaper than a new headset.
I recommend cutting a small notch in the center of the e-clip so you can visually see where to pull it out if you have to disassemble it.
Feel free to modify / improve on this design, i'll be including step and f3d files as I had to remake Jakob's model from scratch.
I printed using Esun PLA+ it's a very strong filament so I hope it lasts a long time.
I recommend tuning "Support Z Distance" for your machine, Supports should look like the one in the photo.
General:
- .16mm layer height
- 15% Gyroid infill
- Ironing recommended
Supports for Hinge and Elastic Mod:
- Tree supports
- 45* branch angle (Very important)
- 2 walls for branches
Supports for Cover:
- Normal supports
- XY distance 0.3mm (Very important)
A Dremel or a precise cutting tool is required to get the earcup separate from the stock hinge without de-soldering the cable, Please be careful to not cut the cable, take your time be patient.
