This is another attempt for a Filament-Cutter Base module without servo. A bit more refined than my previous model. For this gadget to work, you'll also need the Push-Pin mounted somewhere on the 3D-Printer frame at the right position. Unfortunately, there's no "one-size-fits-all" solution to this. The shown Push-Pin will fit on a Creality CR-10 Smart gantry without modification though.
Here's a short on YouTube where you can see it in action.
A newer version with some variations you'll find here.

This looks like a great design and thank you for sharing! I am keen to know how well it works in real world use for a filament change. Given how much pressure needs to be applied to cut are the any issues with layer alignment when the printhead prints after the change?
You're welcome! T.b.h. I haven't used this solution myself for a long time, since I still prefer my Servo-Cutter but if you head over to my Discord server, you may have a chat with "Feverishzoja". She made a custom design for her printer, which you can see here in action: https://sites.google.com/view/the-smuff/work-in-progress?authuser=0#h.jrmwvn34162i
(seems like there's an input limit...) Basically, it all depends on your printer setup. If you see skipped steps / shifted positions, this means the stepper motor is not powerful enough. You can do a couple of things:
For the time I had this running on my CR-10, I didn't discover any shifted positions after cutting.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, very much appreciated. I plan to implement on my [heavily mod'ed] Ender 3 with Micro Swiss hotend and Sprite SE. I have started to model your base design but I will have a chat with Feverishzoja, she has an impressive setup!
I like this one. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to mount it on an Ender 3.
what gcode to use in prusaslicer to use this
Depends on how and where you mount it... If you mount it like I did in the video, a G28 X will cut the filament.
