This set of components is used to align the forks of a Tormach 440 ATC. Following the normal ATC alignment procedure can result in some of the tools being out of alignment with the spindle due to compliance in the way the forks are connected to the rotation frame.
There are 3 components to this alignment jig:
- The Spindle Alignment disk
- The Spindle Guide
- The pin is free floating.
Procedure:
- Install the Spindle guide into the spindle with the ATC retracted.
- Install the Alignment disk into the fork you'd like to align.
- Loosen the bolts attaching the fork to the ATC rotating frame.
- Move the ATC into the load position
- Lower the spindle guide to touch the disk
- Insert the pin from the bottom of the disk, and slide it through the disk into the simdle guide until it bottoms out.
- Tighten the bolts holding the fork to the frame.
During step 6, the fork is moved into alignment with the spindle.
Good luck!
