Benchmark Bot

Move over boat, there is a new benchmark in town.

This robot is not only a fun print-in-place figure but it is also a very useful calibration tool.

The robot is designed with 17 functional joints with different orientations, couplings, and tolerances. The tolerances range from 0.2 - 0.5mm and allow you to test the minimum clearances your printer can produce and still achieve print-in-place movement.

Each limb is labeled with the tolerances of their joints and all other joints have a 0.3mm tolerance. It might take a little (just a little) bit of force to break them free any more and you risk breaking the robot.

It only uses 20g of filament and is small enough to fit on a Prusa mini or even a Voron V0.

Among Us Imposter

We have all played or at least heard of Among us in the past year and it surely was a fun little game. The two sides in the game were the crewmates, and the imposters, who disguised themselves among the crewmates.

This is what made me want to design this print-in-place model of an innocent-looking crewmate, who in a split second can turn into an imposter with a big deadly tongue. 

There are multiple print in place parts in this design, the main one being the mouth of the character.

The mouth has two functions:
1. To hide the imposter's tongue to disguise as a crewmate.
2. As an actual box or container of sorts to hold small things like USB drives, clips, and microSD cards.

The print turned out to be awesome and I'm really happy with this design.

clearance tolerance tester 

Unlike most clearance testers, this one goes in 0.05 mm increments. While it isn't very fancy, it's easy and cheap to print, and doesn't suffer from inaccuracies from elephant's foot or difficulties with overhang.

If you're looking to implement hinges or other similar features to your prints, this tester will help you find the perfect fit
