Behind The Designs: LeHa Design

Christoph and Patricia of LeHa Designs, where cute meets functional.

Christoph & Patricia; where cute meets functional.

Christoph and Patricia, the duo behind LeHa Design, met in 2014 while training for bodybuilding competitions in Austria. Long before 3D printers, digital storefronts, or ice cream holding animals were part of the picture, they were simply two people who shared discipline, creativity, and a drive to build something meaningful.

3D printing came later. But once it entered their lives, it changed everything.

From Gym Partners to Design Partners

When they met, 3D printing was still in its early days and not yet a part of their lives. It wasn’t until around 2016, after moving into a house with enough space, that Christoph brought home their first 3D printer.

At the time, it was purely functional and admittedly, a little “nerdy.”

Christoph, formerly a software developer in the automotive industry, was drawn to the mechanical possibilities. He originally bought the printer to build a CNC machine using a project that required printing all the non-structural parts. That project pushed him to learn Fusion 360 and opened the door to designing his own parts.

Patricia, with a background in graphic design, would later bring a completely different dimension to their work.

What started as functional dust extraction parts soon evolved into something more playful: interior designs that were not just practical, but joyful. That shift became LeHa Design.

Cute. Functional. Iterated.

If you’ve seen their work, you know their signature style instantly.

LeHa Design takes everyday objects like ice cream pint holders, toilet paper storage, home accessories and transforms them into something more fun, more cute, more lovable.

Their famous animal ice cream holders are a perfect example: functional insulation meets personality-packed character design.

“We want our models to be both cute and functional,” they explain. That balance requires serious iteration. A model isn’t finished until it both works mechanically and has the right expression.

Their process blends both of their strengths:

  • Patricia sculpts organic forms in Nomad Sculpt, often starting on an iPad.
  • Christoph imports the model into Fusion 360, refining snap fits, tolerances, and structural mechanics with precision.

Nomad Sculpt brings the soul, Fusion 360 ensures it works; a creative partnership in the truest sense.

Designing What People Love

LeHa keeps a long backlog of customer requests; from new animal variations to seasonal releases. But they’re careful not to repeat themselves too much.

A sloth ice cream holder? It’s high on the list, but timing matters. After releasing two brown models in a row, they intentionally chose to diversify colors before revisiting it.

There is a release every week, and every release is very carefully planned & thought out. They’ve set a self-imposed goal of launching a new model weekly; a challenge that requires careful scheduling, photography, printing, and video production far in advance (especially around holidays like Valentine’s Day).

A fully new concept can take four to five weeks of combined work before it’s ready for the world.

The Joy of Global Creation

One of their favorite parts of this journey? Designing a model in Austria, on an iPad, and watching it get printed in homes all around the world.

That magical cycle of imagination becoming physical reality never gets old.

They also deeply value the 3D printing community itself; especially the supportive feedback and the way makers alert them when their designs are stolen and reposted elsewhere.

“It’s the least fun part,” they admit, but the community support makes a difference.

Why Thangs Matters

Christoph and Patricia credit Thangs as a major factor in making digital design sustainable.

Compared to point-based systems on other platforms, Thangs provided real infrastructure for monetization, brand growth, and community building.

For a while now, LeHa Design transitioned fully into digital-only sales — stepping away from shipping physical products due to logistical challenges, tariffs, and the sheer complexity of managing multiple production printers. Now, they rely on licensed sellers worldwide while focusing entirely on what they love most: designing.

Looking Ahead

LeHa Design has existed for about a year and a half; young, but rapidly growing.

In three years, they see:

  • Continued brand growth
  • An expansion into more functional models
  • A stronger global community around their work

They’re realistic about the industry’s evolution. Multi-color printers may become the norm. AI will certainly play a role. But they believe deeply that human creativity and the “soul” behind a design can’t be replaced.

AI, in their view, is a tool. The heart still belongs to the designer.

Built on Partnership

What makes LeHa special isn’t just the models, it’s the balance. Christoph handles the technical, mechanical, and structural side. Patricia shapes the personality and visual appeal. Together, they refine, adjust, and perfect each design. They prefer to stay lean and agile rather than growing into a large team — protecting the dynamic that makes their collaboration work.

And perhaps that’s the most fitting Valentine’s takeaway of all:

LeHa Design isn’t just about cute, lovable objects. It’s about two people building something thoughtful together — combining logic and heart, structure and softness, precision and play. From the gym in 2014, to 3D printers all around the world today.
