I'm sharing a 3D-printed, print-in-place bag clip with a hinge. It's a handy tool for keeping your snacks fresh and your pantry organized.

Design Features:

The clip is 100mm wide.

  • It uses just over 6 grams of filament, making it a quick and economical print.
  • It's a work-in-progress model that has passed strength and durability tests in my home.

Printing Tips:

  • I've had issues printing with silk filaments. The clip didn't close correctly and the hinge snapped. It might be an issue with the filament, so keep that in mind.
  • It's important to note that after printing, the correct action is to close the clip, not open it. This should be done by supporting the entire width of the clip, not just the tip, to ensure that the bending is minimal and the integrity of the clip is maintained.

This bag clip is a practical print that I hope you'll find useful. I'm looking forward to your feedback and improvements.

Update 12/05/2024:

  • A new fillet has been introduced to enhance tolerance, ensuring a more forgiving and adaptable fit.
  • A fresh version now features a small, pre-made support, offering an alternative for printers that struggle with cooling efficiency.
  • The perimeter count in the 3mf files has been increased to three, reinforcing the structural integrity of the prints.

During my testing, I successfully printed with filaments that typically pose challenges, including aged filaments and silk types. The clips closed smoothly without any issues, except for one instance in a multi-part print that lacked the support. When printing several clips together, the one with the additional support consistently worked well. These enhancements have been tested across four different printer models (X1C, Voron 2.4, Prusa Mini, Ender clone), all yielding similar and pleasing outcomes.
