This is my take on the best spool holder. With double bearings on each side, and adjustable bolt and nut to accommodate the most common 1kg spools.
Mount this model in any spool bracket that has a 32mm diameter. That's what I had on my Wanhao D9 3D printer, but if your printer spool bracket has a different diameter, let me know and I will make a new model for you, and others with the same printer will benefit from it.
To assemble the whole thing, you will need these parts:
- 1x 8mm steel shaft 280mm long
- 2x 8mm shaft collar
- 2x 16x8x5mm bearing As well as all the 3D printed parts.
You also need a drill because the shaft holder has a hole that is exactly 8mm, and that shrinks after being printed. A hand drill is used to drill the shaft into that hole and it is a friction fit. Instruction video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKDTxmIiPXQ
Lastly you'll need an Allan key to lock the shaft collar.
I posted a test nut and bolt that you may test for free to see if your printer can print the thread. You should test this first, and then buy my model if the tolerances are right.
