Hextraction Game Boards
These are the official game boards for Hextraction, the hackable, 3D-printable board game. I've created two versions - the Basic model uses minimal filament and prints fast. The "Fancy" Gutter version has many useful features, like ball-catching gutters and detachable feet, but consumes considerably more filament and time.
For assembly instructions for a basic board, watch the Hextraction launch video!
I've designed this to be as modular as possible, so you can create boards of any shape and size. If you're sizing a leg for a given slot, you want it to be 25mm taller for every additional slot between it and the end zone.

Hextraction is a 3D-printable, modder-friendly board game designed by me, Zack Freedman of Voidstar Lab. In addition to tiles, you'll also need 10mm steel balls or 3/8" slingshot ammo and a game board. To learn the rules and how to get started, watch the Hextraction video!
Hextraction is absolutely free - it's free of charge - all of my models are here on Thangs, commercial use allowed. It's free-form - you can play with any number of opponents, even zero. It's free to modify - you can create your own tiles and configure your own board.

If you missing a list of the parts to print here: Basic Board 1 x 5-15 Plate 1 x 5-7 Plate 5 x Basic Clips 2 x Basic On-Ramp (missing as single stl but available in "All Hextraction Hexcessories - Don't Print.step") 2 x Universal End Zone 2 x Basic Back Leg Mount 2 x Basic Leg Segment 50mm 2 x Basic Foot Mount Integrated 2 x Universal Foot Integrated
Not all heroes wear capes.
Thanks for the list,
I just downloaded today & it has the on ramp in STL. So that would mean its ok to print from the download?
Just need to fit the 5-15 plate one my ender 3. but people seem to have remixed it in the comments
Looking forward to printing this :D
Keep being awesome!
Great Work!
Fancy Board: 1 x 5-15 Plate 1 x 5-7 Plate 17 x Gutter Segment 3 x Gutter Endcap 2 x Gutter On-Ramp 2 x Gutter Leg Mount 2 x Gutter Leg Start 2 x Gutter Foot Mount Integrated 2 x Universal Foot Integrated 2 x Gutter Leg Segment 50mm (missing as single stl but available in "All Hextraction Hexcessories - Don't Print.step")
Thank you!
Off-Ramp seems to be missing anyone?
Why was is this so hard to figure out what to print and how to put it together? Even with the video, he goes through all the steps so darn fast that it's hard to make sense of it all.
i can't fit the 1 x 5-15 Plate on my ender 3 v2, does anyone have smaller sections?
Check out this remix. https://www.printables.com/model/528431-hextraction-board-for-small-build-plates-148x153
has the tolerances on this been extremely unforgiving for anyone else? im gunna move to the heat-set stuff instead because i cant get any of the integrated threads to work, and all of the tiles that snap together are extremely tight, i cant get them back apart when i snap them together.
I had the same issue. The printed parts didn't fit. Because I am new to 3d-printing, I tried scaling the models (tiles @97%) and other silly things. Then I read up on flow calibration. So I recalibrated the e-steps on my extruder, printed single wall calibration cubes and adjusted my flowrate and lastly the horizontal expansion after in my slicer. Here is a comprehensive guide I followed parts of: https://the3dprinterbee.com/3d-printer-calibration/ Now everything fits perfectly.
After I changed my layer height to .12 the threaded parts printed perfectly.
I was able to print the threaded parts, but have to ensure absolutely no support touches them and the threads are aligned with the Z axis to be as clean as possible. The grid seems to be pretty nicely sized and if you are having issues, it might be because you have elephant footing on the first few layers, causing the tolerances to be off?
I scaled the Gutter Foot Mount Integrated to 102%, then careful moved the Universal Foot in and out of the threads a little at a time until it was fully seated. Seemed to work well after that, and it glued to the leg just fine.
yea, ive decided just to do the basic board with heat sets dont have to deal with tolerances then and i just wont snap together tiles that store snapped together lol
The tolerances for the integrated threads are very tight. I haven't been able to successfully screw them together yet, even using xy compensation in the slicer.
Printing the screw hasn't worked for me neither. But all the parts in the basic set should not be a snap fit because they all get glued together.
The 5-15 plate does not fit when flat on a 220mmx220mm standard plate size. Could it be split into two pieces like the 5-7 in size to print flat on smaller printers?
I took a shot at making a smaller board because the larger 5-15 doesn't fit on my build plate either. This isn't tested yet, but should work? https://thangs.com/designer/nzambo/3d-model/Hextraction%205-5%20Plate-857242
The problem with changing the size of one thing is, you have to change the size of everything from now on to make them fit.
thanks unknifto, file works when rotated 45 degrees
I made this for a 235x235 bed. not sure it helps you much :( https://thangs.com/mythangs/file/879881
Thanks, looks like this should work, and require 3x those and 1x 5-7 to equal a board. Edit: I printed one and it nests with the 5-7 so should be good to go!
Damn you zack, you got me so hooked on Gridfinity and this
How many pieces do you recommend for each color for the game delta direct install?
