HAPPY WORLD OTTER DAY!!! 5/29/24

In celebration of World Otter Day, and in keeping with my summer ocean-themed prints as of late...The articulated HAND HOLDING Sea Otter!

While researching otters around world otter day, I came across this fun fact - Sea Otters "hold hands" (they technically don't have hands, so they kind of intertwine their arms together) to keep from floating away from each other in the open ocean, AND they often do it while they're ASLEEP because they're afraid to lose their family members when they wake up! How cute is that! They also do it to keep warm, and to stick together to better ward of predators.

I knew I needed to try to make some adorable sea otters holding hands, so here is my model for this week. I made two versions - one with the eyes open, and one with eyes closed, so they can watch over their own while they are asleep. Each model can hold the other otters to their right, or their left, so you could end up with an otter line going on and on and on...

Their tails are fully articulated for that added cuteness factor. They wiggle around as the otters peacefully drift along on their backs int he ocean...

Included in the .3mf is a fully painted a1 project which includes one plate for the awake and one plate for the asleep otter. The STL files are single object files, used for printing in single colors.

These little sea otters are divided into several parts, that can all be colored separately in the .3mf. Eyes and mouth, ears, tummy tufts of fur, and the full body of the otter can be color changed.

I recommend .16mm layer height, 3 walls and at least 10% infill, if not more to stiffen up those tiny little joints.
