The prIvate OpeN Source Network Attached Storage or short I.O.N.S. N.A.S. was created because i needed an NAS for my Data. Sadly I couldn't find a design that fulfilled all my wishes.
As some people probably already recognised the outer design is somewhat based on/inspired by the Xbox Series X.
The NAS is designed for two 63,5 mm(2,5 inch) drives for storage and a Raspberry Pi 4 as the brains of operation, but you can probably use any small single board computer.
The I.O.N.S. N.A.S. is able to house a 120mm Fan (I had a NF-F12 5V in mind). It's not necessary for most cases though.
If you would like a version without the possibility to hang it on the wall or Without the Icon, just leave a comment.
Due to the size of the parts I designed them to be printable with a 1mm nozzle.
Software and Electronics:
The software part is relatively simple. I'm using OMV on the raspberry and it works great. There are many tutorials if you need help with the installation.
There is one important information you need to know if you want to build this NAS. A raspberry isn't able to run two 63,5mm hard drives on its own Power Supply. Due to this you will need SATA adapters with an external power Supply. Sadly I wasn't able to find one so I opened "normal" ones and replaced the existing connection with an external 5V USB Supply. As you can see in the picture (I know it isn't up to code but that's what I had on hand).
