Remix of Print-in-Place Twisty Puzzle Box - Barrel by 3DPrinty

I think we were both thinking of labyrinth puzzle meets Etch A Sketch. Here is my take on the indirect labyrinth puzzle in the classic barrel form factor. Scaled to fit bank notes.

Word of warning, I don't recommend the print-in-place option just yet. The extra rigidity of the barrel makes it quite difficult to separate (a few whacks of the rubber mallet used to work a treat). I have added a couple of notches to allow just enough access for a small flathead screwdriver to pry the inner cylinder loose.

Prints mostly in place (at 0.2mm layer height). Some post-processing required - carefully run a sharp edge around the 1-layer gap to free it up. Then the top goes on, which only fits in one position. Turn it 180 degrees once in place and you should be able to start turning the bottom dial to engage the maze mechanism. Entering the maze is deceptively easy, escaping not so much.

The models can actually be combined for a fully print-in-place experience, but I don't see much of an advantage in this case and do not recommend. It just adds post-processing. You can also separate them completely using the slightly different model (the print-in-place components do not separate). But if you do, assembly is your first puzzle!

It's actually more like 3 separate mazes which interlock through a hidden moving linkage which navigates all paths and only ever leaves the top one to disengage the locking key. This version is particularly difficult due to the addition of the 3rd maze layer from what was previously a simple up and down sliding collar.

A new addition in this version is a break in the two-fold rotational symmetry of the lid. False locks by prematurely engaging the labyrinth before the latch (not turning the top 180 degrees before turning the bottom) are no longer possible as there is only one position where the maze can be engaged.
