Turn almost any object into an inertial dash compass that points in the direction of your vehicle’s inertia!
Setup Instructions:
Choose an Object: The object will be easier to balance if it has at least one axis of symmetry and is equally weighted across both sides of this axis. The object should not weigh more than approx. 500g
Attach the Bearing: Secure an 8mm OD x 3mm ID bearing to the bearing mount using an M3 x 8mm screw. Using super glue, attach the bearing mount near the object’s center of mass along its axis of symmetry. Ensure the object is slightly back-heavy.
Stand Alignment: Ideally the stand should angle the nose of the object upwards about 10 degrees which will keep it pointed forward when the vehicle is stationary. You may need to use the flat or angled stand depending on the shape of your dash and where you want to mount . Before securing the stand using double sided tape, test to see if the object sits properly in the stand while your vehicle is on flat ground.
