#Gridfinity Height Adaptive Spacers
This item is for use with the #GridFinity system by Zach Freedman:

UPDATE: Taking Zack's suggestion from his latest Gridfinity video, I have added a version (see attached Spacers 2.0.f3d) that not only adds a provision for keeping the magnet mounts in the corners but is also fully parametric up to 8x8. Thanks to KptnAutismus on github for the updated templates.
This is a collection of height adapting spacers for the Gridfinity system. You might ask "Why the heck would I ever need this?". The answer is relatively simple, while Gridfinity does an excellent job of maximizing your XY Axis storage space, you may want items at the back to sit at a higher level for accessibility, or maybe you want to stack something on top of two modules in your system but they are of different heights. My spacers will open up the world of the Z axis to your Gridfinity layout.
Sizes available are 1/4 (250), 1/2 (500) and 3/4 (750). Layouts available are:
1x1 1x2 1x3 1x4
2x2 2x3 2x4
3x3 3x3
4x4
Try it out today, spacers can go above or before your modules and consist of the outer perimeters of the Storage bin template.
Comment below if you need a custom size or height!

yea a lid system that could accept another gridfinity piece ontop of it would be great from this system
This, would love to see a spacer/lid combo. Tried to do it myself in openscad but struggling to model the system correctly. Usecase might be niche though, I agree.
I made a lid system here. I considered what you are saying while designing, but wasn't sure of a use case for it since if you were going to stack a bin a lid and a bin, you might as well just stack a bin and a bin (plus one of my adaptive spacers if they are different heights?), since they already nest. ;) Maybe another day?
Man, I know this is 4 years later, but this is exactly what I needed. I printed a knife block and it was a little short and the height did not match up with the bin it was next to which was super frustrating. Didn't want to waste a ton of filament reprinting the block so these spacers came in clutch!
This is a lifesaver.... I'm still new to it, but im addicted. I've been printing things I think "might work", and coming up short. These saved me! Thank you for your time and sharing this with everyone. I also printed a gridfinity ruler, that's going to save alot of filament for me lol
Looks great. Any chance you can add som options for 5x1, 5x2 and 5x3 that would be wonderful.
IS A 2X5 SPACER AVAILABLE?
Hi,
I am new to fusion 360 and I am trying to make a 2x5 spacer with your f3d. Could you be so kind and give me a walk through?
Also, thank you very much for these awesome modles and work.
These turned out great! now if I can just find some 5x2's and 5x3's I'll have my drawer all done! =D

For use with https://thangs.com/designer/FirstSurvivor/3d-model/Gridfinity%20compatible%201x1%204xAA%20battery%20holder.stl-62322, you really need a 1 height to be able to stack while batteries are in place.
Have you thought about designing lids?
I hadn't thought of it, would you use them? If it's something you would like to see I could do it later tonight.
