The Shell Kinetic Shade is a new series of folding and unfolding shade designs. Inspired by the organic beauty of foliage, this piece features a cascading ring mechanism that filters light through overlapping "leaves," creating a living, natural atmosphere in any workspace.

This is the foundational prototype of the Shell Kinetic Series—engineered for durability, fluid motion, and modular customization.

Key Features

Modular Design: Swap pattern leaves easily without glue to change your aesthetic. Precision Engineering: Tight tolerances ensure a "premium" feel with zero mechanical wobble. Adjustable Tension: A threaded base allows you to fine-tune the rotation speed to your specific print.

Future of the Series

The Shell Kinetic is a modular "Core" designed for expansion. Upcoming upgrades include: Motorized Hub: Smart-home automation & remote control. Ceiling Pendants: High-end architectural hanging kits. New Shells: Fresh organic & geometric leaf patterns.

Technical Specifications

Dimensions: Max Height: 275mm | Max Diameter: 220mm. Filament: ~0.5kg – 0.6kg (PLA+ or PolyLite PLA Pro recommended). Critical Warning: DO NOT SCALE. Scaling will break the mechanical tolerances. Safety: LED BULBS ONLY (Max 9W). Do not use incandescent bulbs.

Print & Assembly Brief

Difficulty: Intermediate/Advanced. Settings: 0.16mm Layer Height | 4+ Walls (for weight/strength) | Support on Build Plate Only. Hardware: Standard E27 Threaded Socket (Max 47mm ring), Super Glue (for internal legs only), and 240-320 grit sandpaper for tuning. Optimized: Pre-configured .3mf files are included to ensure your success.
