Hextraction - Shrink Ray Tile Improved

A remix of the premium Hextraction tile the Shrink Ray. I made several improvements to the original design.

  • Added a pull-out tray underneath the tile which stores up to ten 5mm balls. The tray is held into the base using magnets. Once pulled out, you can get a single ball out by guiding it out the spout with your index finger.
  • Made changes to the tile shape to make sure high-speed balls don't fly out of the tile.
  • Shortened the spikes on the trigger indicator since the longer spikes would cause the ball to bounce out.
  • Added one-way walls that stop the input ball from passing all the way through the tile in the left or right orientation.
  • Removed the "Forbidden" text from the rules card since the tray means the tile no longer requires outside materials.

Just for fun, I also included a gate tile where the pathing changes based on whether the ball going through it is 10mm or 5mm. The 5mm ball goes into the small path about 50% of the time. All pathing with the 5mm balls is inconsistent because they bounce so erratically.

Required Materials:

  • Two 6mm x 2mm magnets (or one 6mm x 4mm magnet)
  • Glue
  • Ten 5mm ball bearings

Printing: Print the body with tree supports.

Assembly: Stack the two magnets and glue them into the hole in the center of the underside of the tile.
