So yes, the fit between the insert and the main part of the model is intentionally really snug. The idea isn’t to just push the insert straight down — what you actually want to do is apply a bit of pressure while also pulling slightly outward, so it can slide over the little notch as it goes in.
Just make sure to guide the insert over the notch rather than forcing it straight down, or the notch might snap. It works the same way for all the creatures in the collection — once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature!
