This is an improved version of the Ridley figure I made awhile ago, Ive changed many of the limb and body articulations, size is still a problem as many of the parts are within the limit of what my fdm printers can do. Im still leaving the original up, but this one is the definitive version going forwards. The guy can support his own weight this time around, but the stand is still required for any kind of posing.

This figure is still not print friendly in some parts, so Im not quite finished with this, but there is only so much that can be done with this model and the design choices Ive made years ago, if I decide to do another one, I might just go for the Ultimate model and start all over again.

Ridley V2 (SSBB)

TTYD Best Girl! This figure was made tracing curves over some of her renders, and extruding the outline and every individual color. The base is the ruby crystal star, I couldn't get the in-game model, but it was easy to reproduce. Assembly instructions are included!

The outline body can be printed without suport, even if the underside sags, the colored pieces will cover any defect.

There are individual files for every piece, and group files by color.

This is a new version of my old Quadraxis figure made in 2020, it's much larger and faithful to the original boss. In keeping with the spirit of the previous version, I modeled every part myself, this time using the gamecube files as a base reference to keep every part proportional to its original counterpart (some vertices are an exact match, but 99% of the geometry is new). Also decided to reutilize the ankle articulation from the Samus figure, and repurpose it as the joint for every leg.

The entire figure is hollow to house the LED strips, the wires and the controller boxes, I used the electronics that come with the regular strips, but there is plenty space inside the head for an arduino board.

The assembly it's held together with a combination of pegs and 3/16" (M5) screws of various lenghts, these are as follows:

SIX 2 1/2" (60mm) for the knees and body
TWELVE 1" (25mm)  for the hip joints and leg 1
TWO 1 1/2" (40mm) for the body
ONE 2" (50mm) for the head

This fella occupies roughly half a cubic meter of space, keep that in mind if you ever decide to make one for yourself, that being said, it should be possible to scale it down to a more reasonable size, but know that the pegs for the transparent pieces will not work anymore because they are already very small, glue will be require to join these.

Files with a G in the title are groups of pieces, including both regular and mirrored parts, the x will indicate how many times that group needs to be printed. All parts and groups have been made to fit in a 200x200 bed, any missing group is due to the combined size being larger than this (leg 3, for example).

The head comes with both right and left halves, the body and leg halves are all for the left side, these pieces must be duplicated and mirrored in the slicer.

Most pieces are black or dark grey, with other colors specified in the name.

I used Kodak's "Enhanced PLA" for all pegs, hip pieces, knuckles, ankles, and knee connectors. The pieces have a better finish than the regular PLA, but support is harder to peel off.

Use the various grooves and circles to paint with acrylic. Circles and wedges are red, lines are grey.

Youtuber Atomic Shrimp has baited scammers spinning such stories, this box is inspired by one of those scambaiting videos.

This one is a scaled up version and much more “inconspicuous” than V1, so discrete that no one from the United Nation™ delivery service will suspect there is money inside.

The John Barosa Legacy Box V2

This is a 1:2 articulated figure of Samus' Varia Suit from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Im using this page as a "low poly" backup, with the other page containing the high quality models. Most of these can be printed in a 200x200 bed, but the legs will need a larger space.

Instructions for assembly are included in a PDF file. Grouped files for different parts will come at a time. All pieces should be printed in gold colored filament unless specified otherwise in the name of the file or the instructions.

This is still a work in progress and pieces might be replaced with new improved versions after testing.

Assembly requires two ¼"x3" screws for the hips and a handful of 3/16" screws (can be M5 as well) of different lenghts for everything else, these are as follows:

Six - 3/16" x1" - 5mm x25mm (ankle and arms)

This is approximately a 1:2 scale replica of Samus' Arm cannon from the Metroid Prime games. The cannon is made up of several parts to emulate the way it morphs and shifts when selecting different beams.

The light is an RGB LED lamp I gutted and disassembled, the model I bought needed an extra 5 pin cable (used for led strips) to connect the LEDs to the transformer, I have included the housing I used to hold it in place but YMMV depending what electronics you can procure or build yourself. The transformer will be hidden inside her arm, but that piece is yet to be made.

The halves are held together with two M6 x 60mm (or 2 1/2") screws and self locking nuts, a similar screw but 50mm long (2") is used for the elbow.

The parts shift using simple wedges pushing and sliding onto other wedges, this system is admittedly far from perfect, and I intent to iterate on it, and perhaps try a new design in the future. The nozzle can be opened up either with by twisting the center splitter or with the individual hinges of each quarter. I used silicon grease to lube every moving part.

This cannon will be part of a larger print, which is the remainder of Samus herself (standing 1m tall), those files will be on a different page and linked here when its done.

"Clear" or "Transparency" pieces should be printed with colorless filament, with few perimeters and little infill for better illumination, if you have dual extrussion you may be able to print the ice and wave transparencies with their green shells on top, but I choose to glue them with liquid silicone. The "glow" pieces should be made with green or yellow "glow in the dark" filament. Everything else can be made in green (silver is also a good alternative), with optional colors for the beam buttons. The elbow_cover should be made with gold colored filament, silk PLA would be great but remeber this figure is gonna be quite large, may want to go with something cheaper or just paint it.

New articulated figure, this time its Ornstein from Dark Souls!

This figure uses the actual game model, downloaded from The Models Resources, most of the geometry is preserved with minor modifications. The only thing I didn't do was the chainmail cloth so to not limit his mobility.

To simplify the assembly as much as possible, there are only two main type of pegs used all throughout, with only a few specialized ones for some joints. Pegs and joints should be printed flat on the bed for better strength whenever possible, and I have tappered most of the pieces to give them some kind of flat surface for this. Pegs can be squished with pliers for easier plugging, causing some small deformation to them should not be a problem.

To piece together the figure, you will have to read the item description included in every stl file... nah jk, I'll soon include an infograph with instructions, altough it is fairly straightforward. All pieces are of the left side of the figure, and you will have to duplicate and mirror them in your slicer of choice. I will also provide some files with multiple pieces. For the most part, glue is not necessary and the pegs should be strong enough to hold everything together.

Everything fits a standard 200x200 bed, however the stand pole is too tall and I split it in two pieces, this one could be glued together, but I also have a single-piece version of it if you have a bigger bed.

Each piece is labeled with the recommended filament color in their file name, if no color is indicated, use whatever you want as the piece will not be visible. Most of the figure was made in gold and black.

This fella is 18" tall, with the lance going up to 23". Total printing time was around 150hs not counting prototyping and testing.

Disclaimer:

The figure you see in the photos is a larger version that houses LEDs and batteries. If you'd like to do that one you have to scale every STL to170%, this size increase is due to the 2xAAA battery holder that I used to power the car LEDs (shorter than regular leds), as it fits fine at that scale. Some of the pieces included here are unique to the large EMMI and are already scaled up, so those can be printed at 1:1, just replace the normal pieces with their "LARGE" counterpart in this case.

The battery holder I got is similar to this one https://www.jsumo.com/battery-holder-2-x-aaa , Im not saying you get that one exactly but use it for size reference. There also are two different pieces to attach different types of light switches, pick the one that you like most.

Printing:

Despite the size of this fella being fairly large assembled even at default scale, some of the pieces are really small, I'd recommend doing some testing with the tiniest ones to see how they work out. The smallest pieces are the knuckles and the neck pegs. I don't think this can get any smaller than it is.

The names of the pieces will tell you what filament color, amount and if you should mirror, for example:arm 1 (black) X1+1 means you need to print it with black colored filament and you need to print one normal + one mirrored for the symetry, the piecearm 2 (black) X2 needs to be printed twice as is. If there is no mention of color or amount, just print it once with whatever you want. Mirrored pieces are not provided, you can do it in your slicer. Merge the halves with your choice of glue.

Some of the pegs can be a bit of a pain to assemble, let me know if you have any trouble and if you'd do any changes. Also, apologies for the amount of different sized pegs, Im pretty sure a bunch of them could've been standarized but I ended up doing unique ones for each articulation.

Lastly, Im also including an extra hand and foot each with a hole to glue Ø6mm neodymium magnets (Ø8mm for the scaled up version), this will allow the bugger to "cling" to walls and ceilings. This thing is pretty heavy and the magnets alone won't do the trick, so I also made a hook to hang the body from a ceiling.

The face shield and flaps are optional and can be easily detached from the head.

If you'd rather do one of the other colored EMMIs, take any piece marked with "(white)" and print them with the color of your choice.

Update 1: Added an extra Face shield without the pins to attach the flaps, and also a smaller face flap. Gonna leave the larger one, you can choose which one to use.

Update 2: Im adding a bunch of grouped pieces for easier downloading and arranging. No optional pieces were added in these files, but it should be enough to print the entire figure. The arrangements of the pieces were the same I used and supports are a must, but there is plenty of room to improvement.

Update 3: Small adjustment to the "cable" pieces to make them less loose.

Update 4: Added a cursed facemask, as if the figure wasn't menacing enough already.

More Metroid bosses! This one is the Ferrocrusher from... uh, Im not allowed to say the name of the game. Original model downloaded from The Models Resource, the scale of this little fellow was based on the size of the pilot and optimized for 220x220 beds.
Most of the parts were already separated the way you'll see here from the original file, so what I did was to get rid of the excess and conserve and repair only the important pieces.

The names of the pieces tell you how many you need to make (X) and the recommended filament color.

You will need to duplicate and mirror the following pieces:

* All "rake" related pieces
* front_leg_1
* back_wheel_suspension
* arm_1

front_wheel_cover doesn't need to be mirrored, but it has a small difference that makes it a bit asymmetrical, so you can mirror it if you want.

Try to print any articulation piece, particulary the rake_arm_1, with a strong setting as these pieces will have to handle the insertion and the weight. It also a good idea to lubricate every moving joint.

At a later time I'll include an infograph to help assembly this monstruosity.

RB176 Ferrocrusher (Metroid:OM)

More Metroid prints! This time its the "actual" big guy Kraid. His mobility is a lot more limited than the other ones Ive made, but Kraid isn't known for his speed and agility, so I think it fits him. The model is from Smash Ultimate and acquired from The Models Resource.

All limbs and halfs are of the right side, you will want to duplicate and mirror every one of those.

I don't think this one is hard to assemble, but if anyone needs it I'll make an infograph. For now just keep in mind that the pegs for the tail are also used in other places.

Most pieces are made out of military green, the belly and eyes are glow in the dark green (altough the eyes could be red too), and I made the spikes out of "stone" color but Id recommend ivory, pegs and neck can be made out of anything.

Kraid (Metroid - SSBU)

This is Metroid Prime, the final boss of... Metroid Prime. This articulated figure was made using the actual in-game model of the creature (with the help of MPR and URDE), with brand new joints added to every articulation. Most of the pieces are just as they were in-game, with some modifications done here and there.

The inside of the boss is hollowed to allow the addition of an RGB LED module inside, which represents the beam vulnerabity of the creature, this is also why some of the parts are made with translucent material, first to allow the light of the LED to escape, but also to be able to use the remote control that comes included and needs line of sight with the IR sensor.

The space inside was designed to house the electronics and the transformer of a particular 3W lamp I bought and gutted, if you are interested, just know that the size of the PCB is 32x32mm (Ø36). The back leg has its three segments also hollowed out to allow the passage of a cable to power the LED, but if you don't want to do that stuff, I've also provided a version of the toe (?) without the hole.

To assemble this beast, you will need two of each part with the exception of the jaw and the lower teeth which only one of each is required, and the piece called peg_1 needs 10 of each to make the hinges, I tried having them being part of the limb but they kept breaking, forcing me to discard the whole part, so I decided to have them be their own thing, which allowed me to print them in a better orientation. The smaller pegs are for an easier assembly of the halves, you will need roughly 14 of them.

Every single part is from the left side and to make the right side all you need to do is duplicate and mirror the parts. Limbs with the number 1 are closest to the body, number 2 is the middle part, and number 3 is the extreme. "Joint" pieces are attached to their corresponding body part, and "connection" pieces link the joints to the limbs. The very last upper tooth actually prevents the mouth from being able to close itself properly, so I added an alternate version that has that last tooth removed, guess too much Phazon ingestion can cause cavities.

I'll probably add an infograph because it can be confusing, and assembling the body can be quite tough without help. Vises and rubber bands will come in handy while gluing some of the parts together.

_Ridley hits the BIG time!_

A new boss figurine from the Metroid universe, this time its the big baddie himself, the terror of figthing games developers, using the model from Smash Brawl gotten from VGResources. Why Brawl and not Ultimate? Well, because the Brawl model its based of his Super Metroid artwork and I like it more than his newest form.

After my experience with Dark Samus, I did some changes to the articulations, they are still probably more complex than they need to be, but Im trying to have them not be noticeable, also wanted to see how small I could get with these joints since Ridley is a very slim dude. One thing I should have done was to make a brand new tail, as it would have been much easier to print assembled.

All limbs and halves are from the right side, to complete him, its required to duplicate and mirror all the parts. The body parts were made with grape colored filament, as a sort of compromise between the purple skin he has in the games and the red color of the artwork and when taking massive damage, the membrane of the wings is made with UV Glow Green, and the teeth are white.

Im fairly satisfied with the end result, but I think it would have worked out better if I had scaled him a bit, as there are too many thin walls and the articulations would work better. An upscale of 30% to 50% would work fine I think, though the wings would have to be printed vertically.

The stand is featured apart, as I might use it for other figures.

A new Metroid figurine! This time its Dark Samus in her MP3:Corruption form. For this one I used the Smash Ultimate model (from The VG Resource website), and added joints attempting to conserve as much from the original object as possible. The range of motions is not quite like a figma figurine (both the shoulders and foot should have an extra articulation, and the elbow and knees are single joint instead of double), but I think it turned out pretty good, there is still plenty of room for improvements tho and I can see myself doing a revision in the future.

Ive provided a few images showing how this beast is assembled, with all the parts named. The thigh piece comes in two versions, one with an extra ridge that is more accurate to the real model, but limits the mobility a lot, so I provided a simple version that allows more movements. All articulation pieces should be printed on their side for better resistance. The complete head can be a real pain to join with the spine, so thats why I've also provided half of it to make it easier.

NO ENTRY WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION

A new Metroid print! This one is the rogue security robot BOX from Metroid Fusion. Using only the sprites from the original game I recreated this boss in full 3D glory, because the mechanism of its legs never had sprites, I designed the parts in a way that'd fit what alreay exists. The weaponry doesn't come included this time, as I needed the space inside to house the "brain", an Aurora Unit taken from Metroid Prime 3. Ive included both the full and broken versions of the hull. Additionally, the chasis has a hole underneath to insert a 1/0 switch, there is enough space inside to house 2 AA batteries (to light up the brain).

Made entirely with PLA, all articulations should be printed on their side for max strength. The leg_cylinders aren't mandatory, I added them only to limit the movement of the articulations.

Instructions for assembly of the legs are included.

This is a fully articulated figure of Prime 2's boss Quadraxis (one of my personal favorites from the series). The design is completely made from scratch, using only a render and a couple of in-game screenshots to work with. There are a LOT of differences with the real thing, so for this version I was more interested in making it work, and Im quite happy with the results so far.

The idea behind this baddie is to be able to "destroy" the shields from its legs and knees just like in the game, so a couple of parts that could have been made in one piece were split into two. You will need to glue a lot of pieces, instructions are included.

Being my first attempt at this, some of the parts could've been solved in a different way, any feedback is welcome!

EDIT1: Added a slightly smaller Body part, still bigger than the real thing, but more detailed.

EDIT2: As per request, Ive added a bigger head to compensate for the larger-than-OG Body, as it makes the v1 Head seem smaller in comparison.

EDIT3: New parts have been added, a hollowed head with the eyes and shield separated, as well as the little sideguards that link LEG2 and the Knees (Leg2 already has a hole where these links go), also replaced the knee files and added a hole where the other end of the link goes.

A simple stand for my current and upcoming figures, the top part can be made in any shape depending on the figure in question. The actual base was made with a squished version of the Varia Suit upgrade from Metroid Prime. Ideally, the pole and arm should be made with a transparent material to hide it from view, I don't have that stuff yet so I just made it with transluscent. For once, there is no leeway in the joint between the base and the pole, once they are assembled, there is no going back.

Sanding and painting are a must as the angles are too shallow even for the smallest definition.

This is a Metroid-shapped desk lamp, it comes with big hollowed base and body to acomodate a variety of lamps inside, the one I used was a remote controlled RGB LED, placing the light module on the creature and the transformer half hidden in the base.

The body and display were made in grey, the fangs are an ivory white, and the membrane was made with translucent pla, not quite transparent, but good enough for the IR sensor to pick up the signal from the remote, and the light diffuses really well.

To get the membrane right, supports are highly recommended, and layer height should be less than 0.15 (the one in the photo was made in draft quality and it shows...).

For reference, this sucker is 230mm tall when assembled. I made a ttwo variations to the base, with the logo in different positions, as well as making separate parts for easier individual printing, pick the ones you like most. All pieces have some leeway, so you will want to glue everything together, except for the membrane as that one fits tight.

A simple moneybox made to store your cash, it was inspired by a video made by Youtuber Atomic Shrimp were a scammer tried to con him to get a box of cash and gold bars from the United Nations.

The hinges need to be duplicated, each file says how many you need to make.

From Metroid Prime 3, the Aurora Units are organic supercomputers used by the Galactic Federation to perform a variety of tasks. In the game, AU242 is a helper character that talks to Samus every once in a while to direct the player to their next objective.

This model is from the game itself, so several pieces are unoptimized for printing, the hoses are specially tough to arrange on the bed. The files containing "(x2)" need to be duplicated and mirrored.

The main brain model is hollowed so to add an LED inside, the eyes and crystals should be made with transluscent plastics for this purpose.
