Parameters

  • Coil Count - Sets how many coils the spring has. More coils will result in a more flexible spring.
  • Weight - Sets how heavy the spring “wire” is. For best results, set this value to a multiple of your nozzle diameter.
  • Thickness - Sets the overall thickness of the spring. A thicker spring will be less free to bend horizontally.
  • Width - Sets how wide the spring coils are. A wider spring will be less free to bend forward and backward.
  • Top Width - Adds an optional extended top to the spring.
  • Top Height - Sets the height of the optional top of the spring. Use this to make the spring taller without adding coils.
  • Bottom Width - Adds an optional extended bottom to the spring.
  • Bottom Height - Sets the height of the optional bottom of the spring. Use this to make the spring taller without adding coils.
  • Peg Width - Sets how wide (and tall) the attachment peg on the spring is.
  • Peg Length - Sets how long the attachment peg on the spring is.

Printing

  • Set perimeter count high enough for spring arms to be filled with perimeter lines
  • Some configurations will require supports - most commonly when the peg height is less that the overall spring thickness.

Update You can now create a customized spring insert tool. This will only work if only one end of the spring has a wide ledge.
