Taking Zack's suggestion from his latest Gridfinity video, I have added a version (see attached Spacers 2.0.f3d) that not only adds a provision for keeping the magnet mounts in the corners but is also fully parametric up to 8x8. Thanks to KptnAutismus on github for the updated templates.


This is a collection of height adapting spacers for the Gridfinity system. You might ask "Why the heck would I ever need this?". The answer is relatively simple, while Gridfinity does an excellent job of maximizing your XY Axis storage space, you may want items at the back to sit at a higher level for accessibility, or maybe you want to stack something on top of two modules in your system but they are of different heights. My spacers will open up the world of the Z axis to your Gridfinity layout.

Sizes available are 1/4 (250), 1/2 (500) and 3/4 (750). Layouts available are:

#Gridfinity Height Adaptive Spacers

The P1P is an awesome printer, but the screen sucks! Particularly the numerous menu items you need to jump thru to do anything, not to mention the annoying inability to have a pre-set temperature button(s). The Bambu Handy app solves these issues; so if you have a spare phone (iPhone 6s, 7, 8, SE2-2020, SE3-2023), why not mount it to the printer as a dedicated colour touch screen?

This mount swivels too, so you can use it with your phone camera or simply add more light to the build plate with the phone's flashlight.

The base plate file should print in the “upside down” orientation and requires no supports. It is held very securely in place with a single 4M x 20mm bolt.

The base plate bolt is recommended as using a regular bolt may work loose from the vibrations. Print this simple “bolt” then self/pre-thread with your 4M bolt before assembling.

The iPhone holder should print “face down” and requires support. I HIGHLY recommend using normal(auto) supports- they remove easily and cleanly. If you use tree supports, it will still work, but the surface the phone sits against will be rougher and will cause phone to sit a tad higher making the bezel a tight fit.

The bezel should print face down as well, no supports needed. There's a version with Bambu Labs logo OR one without the logo (just plain).

Remember to go in to ‘Settings’ and disable automatic dimming as the bezel covers the sensor and will make the phone screen go rather dark if you don't adjust the screen brightness. (Settings> Accessibility> Display & Text Size>Auto-Brightness). You can then go in to Display& Brightness setting and adjust level to your liking.

Designed for a quick usage until a full case mod can be created but gives the user a glass top to protect the Head and allow an AMS unit to be stored on top.

Things to accomplish/add:

PFTE tube addition built-in or as an add-on option - completed
Multiple color options for AMS unit's
Built-in Y splitting option - completed
 

Easy print will require some supports orientation is up to you i would print it top down and mild supports for the overhangs and parts to give it better bed adhesion

 

will require a mixture of M3 and M2.5 bolts and nuts from the 8-12mm length and the occasional nut as not all holes are threaded or required i just punched holes according to the frame.

 

Some fit testing may be required as it is a semi snug fit to top of unit.

 

Will also work with my Remixed top slider and LED enclosure that's currently in development and also working on a full case enclosure mod

I have fit tested it ot my P1P's and they fit i did a few minor revisions that are untested but should give it more accessibility and better fits.

Update:27\10\20:
Revised the main body part with an additional 0.5 mm clearance to the Card Adapter apertures to allow for any bridging distortion.

Having upgraded my CR10S with a BTT 35 TFT I was frustrated that the existing Control Box Limited the accessibility of some of the ports and therefore features of the Display.

I therefore designed this console to allow access to the Display USB & SD Card Reader and the Onboard USB\ Micro SD Reader but also to incorporate 2 x SD Card Adapters to save wear & tear on the respective integral Card Readers.

I have also included 2 x SD storage slots into the display frame.

Installation:

1.I have included a basic installation guide within the thing files but basically the LH side of the display frame is retained within the existing Control Box Display aperture and fixed with one of the existing M4 bolts currently holding the PSU to the control box.

2.Having the hinged Lids it is much easier to access but still be careful with inserting the SD Adapters particularly the Onboard Mic SD so not to damage anything.

3.BOM\Links to suggested SD Card Adapters in the Installation Guide.

4.Make sure the bridging where the SD Card Adapters are retained is even, clean up if sagging. If the Readers are a tight fit remove the 2 runners printed on the opposite side to the bridging to ease the fit. It should preferably be snug but if the interference is too tight it may split a very long print!

Printing:

1.Main Body printed @ 40 mms / 0.25 layer height / 2 perimeters with 20% infill which took approximately 6.5 hours.

2.Display Frame printed @ 30mms /0.2 layer height / 2 perimeters with 20% infill.

3.Control Knob printed with 100% infill. @ 20mms.

4.No supports are required but I have included an integrated foot to the main body to reduce the risk of warping. This will need removing prior to assembly.

5.Printed with AMZ3D Black PLA and Amazon Basics Yellow PETG. The main body does not need to be PETG it was just to match the rest of my CR10 livery.

6.The main M4 fixing hole does have a sacrificial layer to aid bridging which will need cleaning out prior to assembly. The sacrificial layer is set to 0.25 layer height so if you print at a different layer height there might be some slight stringing but should still print with an acceptable finish.

7.For the best finish I would suggest printing to the uploaded orientation

8.I have included a blank step file of the hinged lid for personal customisation.

9.There are linear rebate details in both the main body and the display frame which will allow a clean print break for dual colour printing if further personalisation is desirable.

This adapts the 4 key pc keyboard to be used as a usb foot pedal. I printed mine out of TPU and placed a piece of balsa and rubber mat on the bottom for none slip and strength.
I added area for storage and used heavy duty springs for this.

Saw retroCART (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4772631) on Hack-a-day and realized this meets a bunch of my accessibility needs and lets my retro itch get scratched.
USB sticks and cables are getting too hard to manipulate and see and near impossible to line up and get into the back of the PC - this cart system makes that all that a breeze. Print it in nice Atari 800 almond or a good retro beige or khaki or whatever horrid color your childhood 8bit system was and add some chunky black rubber feet to the bottom and you have a good old breakout box alot like the old 5.25 drives and other addons those systems used. Just awesome

Forgive any sloppy work as this is my first attempt ever at OpenScad and stuff

Made the original retroCART slot tolerances about 1mm bigger to make the carts easier to insert and remove and this one fits the larger usb3 extension cables I had laying around.

and spent the better part of an entire day trying to figure out how to make the square hole in the front in openscad. Its a dirty hack but.. it worked.

Ultimately, I wanted to make this in the full size of the old drives but it's such a waste of desk space. print time. and filament but nothings stopping you.
I'd like to have beveled the edge of the opening but I'm terrible at cad. I'd also like to have made it top loading like the Atari 800xl I had but again.. terrible. i'd also like to make 2 more to stack on top - one with a smaller width opening for usb2 devices but so that usb2 fits in the usb3 slot but not the other way around -- and one with rounded sides for usb c, so as my disability progresses, it's easier to determine what I'm using and what to grab in the stack of carts. Maybe someone in the community can expand upon this who's good at computer.
The old 80's nerd in me wants to make a base unit with a hub that allows you to daisy chain them up using old 40 or 80 pin motherboard hdd cables or even old scsi cables and an exposed dip switch to pick where in the chain but sending usb over the flat cables.. but ugh.. effort. and maybe just a little too extra. :)
