Now you too can have your own alien egg, and it's perfectly safe because it doesn't have a face hugger. 

In the bottom is a hole for you to place in some LED lights.  I put green lights in mine.  Plus, I found that using a marble-type filament really makes it look its best!

Use it as a conversation piece, a decoration, or as a prop for Halloween.  You could even use it in the spring for Easter.  The possibilities are endless.

Dragon Eggs / Small Dragon Egg Lamp

Hey,
these were test prints for my dragon egg lamp, but they are pretty cool on their own.
They are lithopanes so you could use them as a lamp or light them from inside.
However, if you scale them they could lose that effect.
Print them without supports and move them inside the print bed a little if you want them to stand straight.

Dragon Egg Lamp

Print Settings:
You need the Egg and the holder assemble them like you can see in the last picture.
Egg: Use a 0.4 mm Nozzle! or a line height of 0.2 mm and a width of 0.4 mm.
Domes are quite hard to print. I always slow down the layers at the top to 50% print speed (at layer 670).
Use 100% infill with concentric infill, or set your wall count to something ridiculous like 40.
Any Basic white PLA will do the job just fine. I used Sunlu White PLA+ if that helps. Don't try Matte or glitter stuff, it will not work.
I use a brim of 10 lines to get this to stick.
It prints 16 hours for me. Be patient. The nosse usally scrapes the print at some point but thats kinda normal. This happnes beouse the curve of the print creates a spring effect.
No supports!

Fancy egg holder 

Egg display or soft boiled egg holder. Stackable and fast to print a set as gift. 

0.2 layer height is fine.

To have the best result place the seam  coordinates to x = 0 and y = 0 relative to the model. That way the seam is mostly on the inside and not visible at all.
