This polyhedron light sculpture is rooted in the icosidodecahedron, an Archimedean solid made from pentagonal and triangular faces. That combination gives the object a complex underlying rhythm: broad pentagonal fields set against smaller triangular structures, all held within a balanced geometric body. In this design, the form is sharpened into a stronger profile, creating a star-like silhouette with a dense, almost accreted surface.

The surface language comes from Piranesi. More specifically, the motif draws from a segment of Campo Marzio that has been snowflaked into a repeating architectural field. Across the sculpture, that pattern becomes a system of raised lines, channels, and layered fragments. It suggests ruins, plans, passages, and small built worlds, but the effect remains sculptural rather than illustrative.

The custom profile gives the piece much of its character. Publicly, it can be understood as a vertical amplification of the form: the body feels pulled into sharper peaks and deeper relief, so the outer edge becomes more pronounced. This strengthens the contrast between the illuminated seams and the darker patterned faces. Light does not wash the object evenly; it escapes through edges, openings, and transitions, making the profile read clearly against the denser surface.

That contrast is central to the work. The thicker relief gives the patterned faces a more substantial visual weight, while the edge-light draws a fine outline around the body.
