TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THE SUPPORT - I ADDED ALL FILES TO PRINT/UPGRADE TO SINGLE AND DUAL ACE-PRO OVERHEAD IN BOTH VERSION. THERE IS NO NEED TO PURCHASE THE SINGLE AND DUAL VERSIONS AS THEY HAVE THE SAME FILES AND MODELS. i LISTED TWO MODELS AS THE DESCRIPTION IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT.

The K3 Max is a huge printer and finding space for it can be a challenge. That problem is compounded if you have the Ace-pro.

Having designed the overhead mount for the K3 and a number of risers I could not resist the challenge. Contrary to the K3 overhead mount this one uses the vertical supports for added strength and rigidity. This results in a very secure and robust mount for the Ace-Pro.

The K3 Max DUAL overhead mount offers the following features:

Two large drawers with GRID-FINITY style compartments (the compartments can be downloaded for free on Makeronline); Can hold Two Ace-pros

Build plate holder for two or more build plates;

Side mounted tool tray (coming soon);

Side mounted External spool holder (coming soon);

LED clips for mounting LED under the Ace-pro overhead mount;

Very rigid and robust mounting brackets that wrap around the vertical supports for added strength;

Very little external hardware ( a few wood screws - see below)

TECHNICAL SPECS AND INFO

The build requires a little over 2.5 spools of filament. PLA is best as it is more rigid. The design is very rugged so no need to use ABS or ASA. The assembled height is 1m (41 inches) with closed lid and 1.2m (49 inches) with the lid opened. Build time on the K3 Max is approximately 4 days

INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT: I have included a print profile (3mf file named "Print Profile - K3 Max Overhead Dual for the base unit with all the required parts. I strongly recommend you use this as the parts are correctly oriented and optimized for printing. I have painted support and it is designed to use TREE MANUAL settings.

The print profiles are named: Print profile - K3 Max overhead Dual (for K3 Max) V1. 3mf - use this to print on the K3 Max Print profile - K3 Max overhead Dual (for K3-S1) V1. 3mf - use this to print on the K3 or S1 *** The Right and left main bodies can only be printed on the K3 Max*** Print profile - K3 Max Overhead Dual - Upgrade from single - use this if you printed the single and want to upgrade to the dual

There is also a zip file "K3 Max Single Overhead files.zip" should you want to print a single overhead mount - if you have multiple printers or want to downgrade. It contains instruction pictures and the print profiles.

The bottom caps can be painted. You will need the file "Bottom cap with k3 Max" which is in the zip STL file.

If you do not want the lettering on the middle post then print the file named "Middle post no lettering STL"

ASSEMBLY

A Gif assembly video with the model description photos shows how to assemble the Ace-overhead. I also uploaded a zip with the assembly photos. Both the single and dual use the same legs but the top main part is different.

• FOUR - 5x18 mm bolts (the ones that held the gantry to the bed for shipping)

• FOUR wood screws (for the build plate holder) 4x no 6 x 3/4" (3.5 mm x 18mm)

• You will need a longer K3 Max to Ace pro cable IMPORTANT: YOU WANT EITHER THE LONG 6 PINS TO 4PINS (6 FT - 2m) OR THE A1 1M EXTENSION (4 PINS NOT 6 PINS)

You will also need longer Bowden tubes for the 2nd Ace.

If you chose to use the LED clips these are mounted using wood screws (see instruction picture). I used SIX no. 6 wood screw x 1/2 inch (approx. 3.5 mm diameter x 12.5 mm long).
