THE 3DSCOPE: A DIY 3D-Printed Dobsonian Telescope

Discover the universe like never before with the 3DScope project, an initiative that brings astronomy and 3D printing together. This project allows you to 3D print, and assemble your own fully functional reflector telescope, using a set of crafted 3D models and an example of its printing and assembly step by step with all specifications. The 3DScope offers an exciting opportunity to explore the mechanics of telescopes while immersing yourself in the world of 3D printing. With its intuitive design and accessible approach, you will not only create a powerful tool for observing the sky, but also gain valuable insights into telescopes, their parts and their construction process. Whether you're an astronomy enthusiast or a maker looking for a unique challenge, this project is your gateway to the stars.

This Dobsonian telescope features a 150 mm diameter primary mirror and a 35 mm secondary mirror, with a focal ratio of f/5 and a lightweight truss tube structure with aluminum bars for efficient 3D printing. However, if you would like to use a mirror with a higher focal ratio simply go to the "Newt for the web" website and modify this parameter and enter the shape parameters of the telescope (check pdf). Designed to fit standard 3D printers with a build volume of 22 x 22 x 25 cm, its components are optimized for easy assembly and excellent functionality. The telescope combines affordability and performance, making it ideal for a DIY project for sky observation. The pdf available here is a printing, construction and use guide which contains the necessary materials and instructions to be able to carry out the project without any problems, with step-by-step explanations of all the required processes. It is important to read the document carefully if you want to make the most of the telescope's functions. The list of all the materials and pieces needed to build the telescope, as well as links to purchase some of them, can also be found in this guide.

If you have any questions about the printing process, the construction, the operation of the telescope or the design of the parts, please don't hesitate to contact this email address: the3dscope@gmail.com or write your question in the comments. Also, if you want to share photos of your project or show off your process, feel free to share it in the comments or at the same email address, we'll be proud and honored to see it!
