Lights Out Inspired Skull / Pen Holder
The cover for Lights Out by Navessa Allen caught my eye, and all of a sudden I needed to make the skull from it! And then I thought, why not make it functional? The model was sculpted in Nomad Sculpt and I've optimised it for 3D printing to make it easy for us all!
Only uses 2 colours and if you have the H2D, this will print pretty quickly on the dual nozzle. If you have a normal single toolhead printer, it might take a fair bit longer.
Alternatively, you can also just print it in a single colour and handpaint it if you like!
The 3MF has 2 models:
- One with the full skull without the negative cylinder for the cutout
- One with the negative cylinder so you can resize the cutout to whatever size you want (in case you want a bigger space for pens or something).
Recommended Settings
- Print at 0.2 or 0.16mm layer height. I printed this on 0.2mm and could not see any layer lines.
- 2 wall loops, 5% crosshatch infill.
- 5 top layers.
- You will need tree supports (I used default tree) as the bottom is slightly inclined.
I also printed this in Glow in the Dark filament and it came out really great!

Can you make a mask like this one?
