A wall mount for Galaxy Tab A7 Lite tablets.

Parameters: I used the same general parameters for all prints:

  • perimeters: 15 (don't need it to be solid, but probably want more than 3)
  • top/bottom layers: 5/5
  • infill: 0%
  • layer height: 0.16
  • nozzle diameter: 0.4mm

Base:

  • PETG since it has a bit of give but is pretty tough
  • Black
  • Amazon Basics
  • I printed with tree supports due to two flat bottomed surfaces. You might be able to get away without it, but they only seemed to add 15-20 mins to the print time and made it come out very consistently flat.

Bezel:

  • PLA since it won't stick to PETG and is a bit more rigid than PETG
  • Galaxy Black
  • Prusament
  • The large, flat surface offers many opportunities for MMU/AMS fun

Buttons:

  • PETG since it won't stick to PLA and I had a color I liked
  • White
  • Amazon Basics
  • 3 copies
  • Needs a brim. I recommend printing all 3 with a primitive joining them:
    • "Cylinder" primitive
    • 1 layer height tall
    • Scaled into an ellipse that effectively adds a brim to all 3 at once
    • Join 3 button copies and cylinder into one object
    • I included a version suitable for 0.16mm layer height

I've been setting up Home Assistant and wanted to have a static display screen in a couple spots in my house. I had an old A7 Lite laying around from an older project and wanted to put it to use. The tablet is not great as a general purpose tablet, but perfect for this sort of thing.

Hole spacing is just right to mount to a typical US wall box used for low-voltage applications like security keypads and ethernet drops. In the pictures it's replacing a defunct and obsolete security keypad. The base should hold the tablet securely in both a vertical orientation (pictured) or horizontal (tested, not pictured).

In fact, the base might hold it a bit too tight - be gentle with your devices! I am considering adding a new revision if there's enough interest for some better fitment.

To keep the tablet charged, I connected 24v to 2 of the 4 existing wires and used one of those automotive 12/24v to USB-C buck converters.
