Kinetic Wind Art Deco

Started as a decoration bit for the WindVane (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7069847), but slowly turned into its own thing.

Same as with the WindVane, this is put together using a central bolt and a ballbearing fixed around that central bolt. (if you use it above the WindVane, or stack them one on top of on the other, I recommend getting a long threaded rod) I'll take pictures assembling it when I get the chance.

Added both a 4 and 6 spoke model AND a mirrored version for each of them (so when you stack them on top of the other, they spin differently). You might ask yourself... why not just flip it, why do I need to print the mirrored version? Well, you can do that, but the ballbearing must have different support above it. I don't think any amount of plastic will hold in the sun and shaken by wind for more than 1 summer. Let's aim for longevity with our prints. I added a Version 3 so if you wanna add a counter movement on top, and you don't care that it's upside down, use Version 3

This is a work in progress, small changes will come up. I want to make the wings even lighter, but still sturdy. It works as is, just if you mean to use a tough filament, you might not need as much material.

I made a visual guide to assembling it, and took some pictures of the whole process.

Some small details: These windmills can be stacked on top of the other ( flipped - so they can spin opposite to each other) just remember to use the 25cm spacer (the center screw wrapper) so the wings don't touch. You can then glue the figurine on top. I'll make sure to add 2 more models, so if you have ideas, let me know.

L.E: Added a simpler, lighter wing style Made a 3rd version of the 4 and 6 spoke - that's reversible and a bit thicker. Not sure why, but my prototype was a bit flimsy. could be the worn nozzle, but I thickened the spokes anyways Changed the wing style again, because Holy Moly, that was too pointy to be safe! Especially while spinning.

Materials: Filament: Heat resistent (and print it tough, like 4 walls and 10% infill)

Bolt: 1x M6, and length is up to you, where you mount it (will add a separate mount when I get the chance) 4 or 6 M5x30 bolts for fixating the wing on each spoke

Nuts: M5/M6 self locking nuts preferable, since the model with vibrate a lot in the wind

Ballbearing: 608 608ZZ 608RS Deep Groove Ball Bearing 8227 8x22x7 MM Double Shielded Miniature High-carbon Steel Single Row 608ZZ ABEC-7 22mm outside diameter / 7mm width / 8mm inside diam links: ali: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006860856972.html 3d printed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5978208
