After making a basil seed separator/thresher to speed up the process of separating the seeds from the husks, I started wearing my hands raw striping the stalks to keep up with it... Soooo, now I made this thing.

It operates like a pair of pliers and clamps around the stem, you then either pull the stem though or push the tool down the stem stripping away the pods. The cupped shape helps to control and direct the spray of separated pods. Without it you can get some good 360 degree coverage of an entire room from the spray of pods flying out in every direction… don't ask me how I know! The little bumps and divots between the two clam shells are there to help align the clamp when closing and keep it aligned while enthusiastically stripping stems clean!

These pliers print as a single part, no support required. I recommend printing with extra wall perimeters to increase strength.

You will need to initially break the joint loose after taking them out of the printer. It should be relatively easy, but I have a bad habit of making tolerances only as loose as they need to be to work for me and my printer, so be warned that your results may vary.

**My Print Settings ** Printer: Bambu P1S

If you have made it this far I’m currently working towards an engineering degree, and time for extensive model testing and refinement is a bit scarce. As a result, some aspects of the design might not be fully optimized, and occasional oversights will happen. For that reason, this model is and will remain available as a free download. I will continue to make improvements when possible and any feedback on the model is invaluable and always appreciated.

If you feel the design and print are the best thing since sliced bread, a “buymeacoffee” donation would be an appreciated gesture but not expected. I also accept hardy pats on the back, fist bumps, comments like “this is totally rad” and all other forms of positive affirmation. You can contribute via the link here if you’re so inclined. https://buymeacoffee.com/overton_prints
