This is a mirror extender for the GSO f/4 6" telescope, which is rebranded by other companies, like Apertura. The focal plane of the telescope normally is 186mm from the tube, this will extend the primary mirror distance to the sensor to make the focal plane at around 140mm from the tube, which should also support most coma correctors and not let them block the lightpath. Additionally the secondary mirror is now able to easily support APS-C and potentially even Full Frame cameras, as based on several threads on cloudynights the secondary was not big enough for the lightcone produced by the primary.

Materials required:

Recommended Print Settings

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 4 horizontal walls minimum
  • 3D infill like gyroid or cubic
  • At least 30% infill, however you can go up to 100%
  • Was designed to be printed without supports

General Notes Recommended to print out of stiff material. PLA does work, but beware warping from heat, however you can print out of HTPLA and that should handle being left in a hot car after annealing.

When assembling, the notches on the primary mirror side will line up with the clips, and the notch on the tube side will line up with the steel fold on the inside. This is designed to be a very tight fit, so a properly calibrated printer is a must to match the dimensions.

Highly recommend to also flock this extender, as most plastics do create a shine that can cause minor reflections
