Eye Ware Case

One thing that every person wearing an eye ware knows, that while traveling a case is of absolute necessity. 

Recently I broke my case while traveling and the entire journey my concern was that where should I keep my glasses safely. 
Thus, gave me an idea to design one for myself.

When the competition was announced, I knew what I wanted to design, and the #3Dprint competition was an opportunity for me to apply the concept of "living hinges", which I recently came across and thought the concept was fascinating. 

Thus, applying the living hinge design concept to the eye ware case, and making it a print in place design for the #3Dprint challenge.

Complete toolkit for gardening

A complete set for gardening.

 irrespective of place...be it outside or an indoor #garden, this set of "complete toolkit", made of functional prints got you covered.

The kit consists of:
1. seed planters
2. self watering vertical planter
3. stems and thorn grooming shears.

one stop shop for all #garden related prints.

Bird Feeder

From planting seeds to watering the plants to grooming the stems all tools of a #garden have been covered, but what is a garden without the birds chirping around; and to keep them chirping and fed, here is a design for the #garden challenge: The bird feeder.

This feeder can be 3d printed from top to bottom. The only external component it requires is a string to hold to a post.
Taking additional care and preventing other animals from stealing the bird food, the feeder has been designed in such a way that when the unwanted guests arrive to eat the bird food, the outer cage would drop down and close the opening to the food inside, and when they leave, the in-built spring mechanism kick in to pull the outer cage back up and allow the birds to have their meal back.

Seed Planters

A simple process such as planting the seeds in #garden can be time consuming.

I learnt that the hard way...all that dirt, sweat and labor intensive work is fun, but can be optimized.

Solution?
Having a technical background, and a small amount of knowledge of designing can do wonders in these times.

I already had a problem statement and now was the time to brainstorm and find some answers. This is when I came up with the designs for the seed planters.

The submission consists of 2 designs:

Version 1:
The first version, inspired by a "push-click pen" has a simple design. One just needs to fill the seeds and needs a simple everyday spring. Now, just go to your lawn, push the body in and press the button from the top. This will push out if and any dirt which might have entered during the plunging process and along with it open up the way for the seeds to fall in. Thus, a simple click pen method to plant seeds.

version 2:
The second model is inspired by a "see-saw", to eliminate even having a spring, and make the planter completely 3D printed, the push mechanism is replace with that of a lever mechanism, in this case, the lever from one end is pushed down, which lifts up the pin, thereby  letting the seeds fall into the ground once the planter is dipped into the soil.

Wire Cutter and Thorn Remover

Who doesn't enjoy the beautiful smell of a rose?
But, when the thorns!! they can be a prick (pun intended) 
Thus, designing a compliant thorn remover for the #garden challenge seems as a worthy tool in gardening.

Vertical self Watering Planter

Always thought of keeping plants inside my house and my office, but had two ,major problems:

1: The plant takes up too much space.
2: Need to water the plant daily.

Hence, came up with design for the #garden challenge of a self watering- vertical planter.

just drill 2 holes on the wall, add screws and hang this planter on them, no more space issues.
and to overcome the watering issue, fill the outside pot with water until the mark and all the job is done.
Now, even if I on a holiday or outside and forget to water the plant, I will have no worries of the plant dying.

Iris Mechanism #3DPNSpeakerCover

The current model is to enter the #3DPNSpeakerCover challenge.

Inspired by the iris mechanism of the camera,  this model acts like a cover with open and close mechanism, where if one wants to listen to mused they may open the mechanism and when done, simply rotate again to close.

The model is designed with parts which require no support to print and no glue to stick, just print and place to assemble.

The Speaker cover model for #3DPNSpeakerCover competition inspired t=by the iris mechanism of the camera.

This is just a representational model, to show how the mechanism is supposed to be assembled.

The model requires no supports to print and is a simple print and place assembly.
