Magnetic Mid Thread

This model is restricted by licensing terms.

This thread can take a 10x2mm N52 Neodymium Disk Magnet and can screw into any mid thread (like a Snap)

Printing Guidelines:

Use 3 perimeter wall thickness, 0.2 mm layer height, 15% infill, and no supports. Apart from that, use your printer's default settings.

The printing orientation is as provided in the file. Make sure the downloaded files are .STL. This part has been designed with a tolerance of 0.25 mm. Your printer will need to be able to bridge gaps of up to 30 mm for some designs.

This is very useful, but the magnet needs to be closer to the surface. Even N52s are too weak, and the strength depends enormously on very small distances.

Can you create a version with the magnet closer to the front?

This part works much better if you slice off the two ends (so the magnet sits closer to the front face) AND increase the hole size slightly so a 10x3mm magnet will fit.

A 10x3 is almost 50% stronger than a 10x2, so can still grab some things through 2 layers of PLA. But even a 10x3 won't hold up a small screwdriver through 0.4mm of plastic, so I might actually skip this part.

The wall in front of the magnet is too thick. Even with n52 magnets it is weak.

I like the idea, but since you can't screw them in from the front, I can't use them in my setup.

I think the idea is that you would thread them into the snap from the rear ( of the snap while it's still in your hand ) then pop the snap into the multiboard from the front.

Awesome idea, in practice it doesn't hold anything, unfortunately.

Hi! Can I request a 6mm version? It will be perfect with "Base Plates" instead of "Base Plate Magnet Clip".

Uhm, so this can only screw in from the back? wth... I don't feel like detaching my multiboard from the wall to get these in.

Chris H

It is a mid thread. It doesn't directly thread into a tile. You thread it into a mid thread snap and then push it into the tile from the front.

What are some example use cases for this?

I'm using this as a magnetic support for a torpedo level

Memberships are in your thangs settings. there's a whole section.

When I thread this in from the rear side of a snap, the magnet side is not flush with the face of the snap. It sits about 1.5mm below. The render makes it appear that it should be flush. Is there a special snap I should be using?
