I hope you enjoy this articulated Crested Gecko! This design comes with two separate snap-fit tail options. In reality, Cresties drop their tails quite easily, and unlike many other lizards... theirs don't grow back. As a result, there are many many cresties out there without tails. I wanted that "frog butt" to be an option for my model too, so you can print either the full tail or the little nub and snap-fit it to the body.

I put together a short video demonstrating the model's features. This includes the swappable tail options, head pre-support removal, head attachment, and leg locks. [Watch Here]

Please, share photos of your makes! I would love to see them!

Warning: Not suitable for unsupervised play by small children or pets, as small parts can pose a choking hazard if broken off due to rough play. Furthermore, broken 3D printed parts can create sharp edges and/or points. Not recommended for children under 3.

Printing Details

  • Body: Print-In-Place.
  • Head: Snap-Fit to Body. Pre-Supported for easy printing. Break off pre-support after printing. No additional support needed.
  • Full Tail: Print-in-place. Snap-fit to Body
  • Nub Tail: Print-in-place. Alternate tail option. Snap-fit to Body
  • 5-15% Infill.
  • 3 Walls. Here is a quick video showing the easiest method for snap-fitting the head onto the body: https://youtu.be/P9llZj7NBvs?t=57

This has been test printed as low as 60% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. The "full tail" is the part most likely to fail at small sizes, so if you go with the "nub" it can likely scale down even further. YMMV

*Good bed adhesion is a must for successful printing. If you find you are having adhesion issues, use a brim/raft or use the model variants with the custom brims built in. If the custom brim shapes aren't showing up in your slice, try lowering your Initial/First Layer Height.

*This model was designed for FDM printing. It was not designed for Resin printing, and I cannot guarantee good/functional SLA results. Resin print at your own risk.
