Fidget Bolt Collab
I have come together with James who runs bucklenshackle, he has created the beloved fidget bolt that some of you may have seen around! We came up with the fun idea to dress them up a bit, and as a result I have created a kitty, bear, and dragon bolts!
Each version has a long and short version! The bolt, twist screw, and cap print separately. The cap comes with a small custom brim version to aid in bed adhesion.
Important: There are a few things to consider when printing the caps. The caps can be affected by elephants foot during printing, this happens when the first layer or layers are squished into the build plate, and this can cause the cap to be abnormally tight on the bolt or not tread at all. If you notice that you are having issues treading the cap on, carefully trim some of the bottom edges with a deburring tool or something similar. As these designs do depend on having the right tolerance you may find that different filaments can affect how tight the cap is.
As the bolts are separated into 3 parts you can achieve a lot of fun color combinations. In order to secure the cap onto the bolt use filament bonding glue and apply it to the treads on the cap, then tread the cap on the bolt and let the glue cure.
All the pictured bolts above are printed using the short bolt version.
I don't recommend scaling down as you might lose a lot of the details, although scaling down is possible it will depend on your printers tolerances. There should be no issues scaling up and in fact during testing a 360% glorious kitty was printed successfully!
If you are using multi filament printer these bolts make awesome purge objects!
