Let this hand handle your drink! This is mostly print-in-place, self-adjusting coaster, that needs NO supports. CHECK QUICK DEMO VIDEO ”Mostly” because whole hand with mechanism is Print in place, the only printed separately part is the round pad, which you need just put on top of the hand.

Clearance between moving parts is very big, so every printer should print this design without any problem.

The Hand Coaster automatically adjusts to the size of the object, it can grip both a mug and a standard aluminum can.

Happy printing and share your new coaster!

3D printing settings:

  • Please DO NOT remove flat elements(looking a bit like a brim) attached to each moving element. They are part of the mechanism.
  • No Supports
  • Moslty print-in-place (pad is printed separetely)
  • 2-3 walls (0.4-0.6[mm] nozzle)
  • 30[%] infill
  • For using with hot drinks I suggest use additional thin cork pad or print “pad” file with a heat resistance material.

This is so funny. I made this ages ago on Cults. Fast forward a year browsing through thangs. I'm like this guy makes cool stuff I'll throw a sub for a month. Not realizing I'd made your work before. Small internet.

Hello! Fantastic model. I’ve printed it twice, but the mechanism doesn’t move smoothly and binds roughly one-third of the time. Are there recommended print settings or tolerances I should use? Thank you!

Hi!

Check for any excessive friction when the small table moves. Sometimes, a large seam can form on the cylindrical part, and this may require quick sanding to ensure the parts move smoothly together.

Also, check the smoothness of the bottom of the small table. If the surface is rough, it can interfere with the levers that slide across it. In such a case, you can easily sand this surface or enable ironing when printing the "Round_Pad."
