A typical Butterfly Hinge

A simple smooth, working butterfly hinge designed to print completely in one piece with no assembly required! Great for small DIY boxes, toy cases, or just as a satisfying mechanical desk fidget.

License: Free for Personal Use Only. Commercial printing/selling is strictly prohibited without contacting the creator or upgrade to Commercial License.

Size: Approximately 40 x 25 x 2 (thick) mm, holes diameter 3.0 mm x 4. Best printed with ABS or PETG for slightly more flexible, durable performance. Center pin 📍 can be directly inserted with a piece of 2.85mm Filament.

3D Printing for Beginner Filament: Standard PLA or Silk PLA works perfectly for smooth movement. Layer Height: 0.2mm or 0.16mm (thinner layers prevent the moving joints from fusing together). Wall Loops / Perimeters: Set to at least 3 or 4 walls for a sturdy, long-lasting hinge. Infill: 15% to 20% Gyroid or Grid infill. Supports: NO SUPPORTS. This is a print-in-place model; adding supports will lock the hinge permanently.

Optional Pro-Tip: If the movement feels stiff initially, a tiny drop of silicone lubricant or dish soap will make the movement buttery smooth.
